During times of uncertainty and stress it becomes even more important to show one another compassion and kindness. Being a listening ear in a time of turmoil, a helping hand in the midst of messiness or a calming heart during upheaval can be just the support needed by those around us. It seems that the level of anxiety about COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) has been on a steep upwards trajectory for the past few weeks. It may partly result from attempts to allay fear and anxiety by downplaying the challenge it represents. But being realistic is not the same as pessimistic. We as a faith community have taken steps to hold each other in love (caring) and support each other with resources.
The New England Region Congregational LIfe Program Team is cancelling all in-person private events and public programming for March and April. We will post information about electronic alternatives for some events. Public health officials have identified the primary COVID-19 transmission route as contact with an infected person. To interrupt infection the
UUA is recommending
that all gatherings of 25 or more be cancelled. We urge you to check with and follow the guidance of local public health officials. The first priority for UUA staff and congregations is the health and welfare of congregants and community members.
