Wisdom Circles

Our ancestors gathered in circles around the fire

to tell stories, solve problems, seek the common good

and celebrate the joys of life.

Join a summer Wisdom Circle and benefit from the shared wisdom of others.

Each circle will be held for 4 weeks. The fee is $75 per person, however, all are welcome regardless of finances . Pre-registration is required.

A pilgrimage is defined as a journey where a person searches for a new meaning about their self, others, nature or a higher good.

In this time of great need for healing in our communities - for racial justice, for environmental nurture, for the health and economic struggle of our neighbors - you might be asking, "what is my work to do?"

Journey with friends of the Retreat House as we take time each day to pilgrimage from home or vacation to engage in that Holy, still place inside--the place that fuels action and radical love.

Wisdom Circle:

MAKING PEACE WITH MONEY

Monday evenings

In this Wisdom Circle, we will consider how spiritual practices can help us shift our attitudes and thoughts about money. A spiritual perspective has the potential to help us feel more peaceful and less stressful about how we live with money.

Imagine having conversations about money that are encouraging instead of frustrating. With this intention, we will inspire and support each other as we look within for a better understanding of money as a God-given tool.

Contemplative Photography

Online workshop

Let us move through the world

with the eyes of our hearts enlightened

so that we may know hope.

4 sessions:

Saturday morning, August 8

9:30 am – 12:00 noon

Thursday evenings, August 13, 20, 27

7:00 – 8:00 pm

This workshop will use contemplative prayer and the practice of Visio Divina* as preparation to discover hope and truth through the lens of a camera.

Learn how to pause and contemplate the scene before you. Discern when to take a photograph and then, discover how the image may become a Word for you in the moment. As we share our photographs with each other, we will prayerfully consider how each photo has illuminated God's presence.

We will meet online using Zoom, beginning with a morning session and then for three shorter evening sessions to share our images and experiences.

*Visio divina (divine seeing) is a method of praying through images. It explores how God communicates with us through sight.

On another note...

LABYRINTH HELP NEEDED! During the summer, the labyrinth needs lots of attention. We could use some help pulling weeds that are growing through the labyrinth stones. If you can help while you're here next time, look for a box with gloves under the nearby bench. Every little bit helps and we would greatly appreciate it!

SUMMER MEDITATIONS - RH Spiritual Director Debra Donnelly-Barton invites you to participate in a daily meditation series starting this Sunday, July 12.

A LITURGY OF THE LIVING EARTH is about how natural rhythms support our daily and hourly prayer.

The Retreat House gates are always open. Please come for a visit soon!

Throughout the COVID crisis, the Retreat House property has remained open to individual visitors.

Now, small groups of up to 10 people are welcome to enjoy the beauty of the grounds for outdoor meetings, walks, meditations, or even to have a picnic.

Check out our "tree rooms!" Gather under the Lindens, Magnolia, Pin Oak or Crape Myrtle. We'll supply the seating! (Stadium chairs are in the gazebo.)

As always, please wear masks when you are near others, and help yourself to hand sanitizer, wipes and bug spray provided in the gazebo.
