Renovation complete at www.ALAforVeterans.org
|
|
Have you noticed something different? The national website has a new look!
We really took the time to think through how our members engage with the content on www.ALAforVeterans.org and how the public engages with it. The site is designed so that someone unfamiliar with the American Legion Auxiliary can look at it and easily see who we are, what we do, and why we matter.
And you’re probably tired of us saying this, but please make sure your internet browsers are up to date. What does this mean? If your technology is not current, connecting can be difficult. For the best online experience, National Headquarters recommends using Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Many websites no longer support Internet Explorer.

You have one more chance in 2020 to learn about working with Juniors
|
|
ALA Academy Live - Getting Started with Juniors (Course 1 in the Junior Mentor Training Series) is being offered one more time in 2020. We are leaving registration open for the hour-long webinar on Dec. 10. Encourage others in your unit to join the webinar too!
This FREE member benefit is a great opportunity to learn about working with Juniors. ALA Junior members are charged with carrying on the longstanding mission of The American Legion Family: helping veterans, servicemembers, and their families. Having effective leaders for the Junior Activities program at the local level is crucial. As mentors, our Junior Activities leaders need to prepare Juniors to lead the ALA successfully by giving them useful life and leadership skills and helping them understand and support our mission.
In this course, you will:
- Learn how to create an appreciation and habit of service in Juniors so they’ll stay involved as adult members.
- Learn how to make Juniors’ experience more meaningful and fun so they’ll remain interested in the ALA and continue their membership as adults.
- Develop an understanding of the risks and liabilities associated with working with youth.
- And much more!

We will never forget Dec. 7, 1941
|
|
Earlier this week, we remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This year’s Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day comes on the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
We encourage you to take a moment and remember the 2,403 servicemembers and civilians who were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
This is an opportunity to remind us to thank our military, veterans, and their families, and remember the sacrifices they make every day.
Thank you to all of our veterans and servicemembers.

Because of #GivingTuesday, hundreds more veterans, military, and their families will be supported in the way they deserve. We are so grateful for each person who gave a gift to the American Legion Auxiliary Foundation on #GivingTuesday. We raised over $55,000 this year, which will ensure our mission endures for years to come. If you missed out on the fun, learn more or make a last-minute gift.

Support students this holiday season
|
|
As the fall semester ends, students need financial assistance now more than ever. Gone are the days when a student could go home for winter break, spend time with families, get a part-time job, and make some money to help with the cost of college. With part-time work opportunities dwindling, a student’s expenses are more daunting than ever. By donating to American Legion Auxiliary scholarships, YOU can help ease a financial burden.
