Legislative Update
The Guam Legislature voted to pass Bill No. 24-37 on Friday evening. The vote was along party lines. This bill seeks to appropriate almost $22 million to fund the general pay plan for the government of Guam employees for the remainder of FY23. As this was the Governor's bill, it is anticipated that she will sign the bill into law in time for the scheduled April 1st pay raise to take effect. You can view the vote and listen to the brief extension of remarks.
The community can view the session discussions and public hearings on the Guam Legislature's YouTube channel.
The Chamber wrote an article this month pointing out issues on our island that the government should consider addressing by redirecting excess government funds instead of supporting Bill No. 24-37. Click here to read our article
A public hearing was held today for Bill Nos. 59-37, 61-37, 75-37 which seek to provide assistance for private businesses by extending the LEAP Program.

- Small businesses added jobs in Utilities (0.56%), Natural Resources and Mining (0.29%), and Leisure and Hospitality (0.27%).
