Available Now! Application Form for City of Miami Beach Small Business Grant
The application form for the City of Miami Beach is now available online for the city's grant aimed at Miami Beach small businesses affected by the pandemic. The program aims to avoid job losses and assist those small businesses affected by emergency orders and business closures by providing working capital to help retain jobs held by low-income residents.
Award recipients will receive grants up to $10,000 for use on any business expense, such as payroll, utilities, rents, and COVID-related expenditures. Award recipients must hire or retain, for a period of 12 months, one (1) employee that resides in a Miami Beach household earning 80% or less AMI (Area Median Income), otherwise the award must be repaid back to the City. The business is not required to hire a new employee if a current employee earns 80% or less AMI and is a Miami Beach resident.

How to Apply
To apply for the Miami Beach Small Business Grant, click here Applications will only be accepted between Monday, June 15 at 9 a.m. and Friday, June 26 at 5 p.m. Following screening for eligibility, applicants will be entered in either one of two lottery drawings:

  • (1) businesses participating in the MB Standard program
  • (2) businesses who are not participating in the program

Following expiration of the application window, award recipients will be randomly selected by lottery until program funding is depleted. If a business fails to meet eligibility requirements, the business will be disqualified from consideration.
MDC’s Acclaimed Hospitality Institute to Provide COVID-19 Re-Opening Training to Area Hotels
Miami-Dade College’s (MDC) Hospitality Institute will provide online COVID-19 re-opening training to employees at hundreds of hotels in both the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association , as part of the county’s ongoing initiative, The New Normal: A Guide for Residents and Commercial Establishments, issued by Miami-Dade County Mayor and MDC alumnus Carlos Gimenez to safely re-open businesses.

The program prepares a “lead trainer” who then provides ongoing training to other employees. To learn more, click here .
