Office of the President

To the William Paterson Community:

With developments around the COVID-19 virus coming quickly, I want to once again reassure the University community that teams of senior administrators from across the campus are monitoring the situation continuously and planning for potential impacts to the University, with the health and safety of our community being our top priority.

As we read news reports of the numbers of cases locally and beyond, we should all anticipate that they will increase, particularly as testing becomes more widespread. As things change, we will respond accordingly. In the meantime, the best way to prepare yourself is to continue with the common-sense precautions of regular handwashing, replacing handshakes with smiles, and staying home or seeking medical care if you are sick.

While we are planning for what may come next, please be assured that we are also taking extensive action to step up campus sanitization efforts, including more frequent cleaning of bathrooms and common areas, and the daily sanitizing of “high-touch” surfaces, like door handles. I encourage everyone to supplement these efforts by taking extra steps to keep your work and study spaces clean.

For more information, please check the special  Counseling, Health and Wellness webpage , which is being regularly updated. You can continue to expect regular updates from me, as well, as the situation develops.
Sincerely,

Richard J. Helldobler, PhD
President
