A Note from Priscilla Kelso
Dear Waban Church Family -

After two years of successful cancer treatment, my family and I are choosing the option of hospice services here at our home.

As we know, hospice can be a matter of weeks, months, or much longer. God is the one who knows our beginnings and endings. On good days I have extraordinary energy. On difficult days, I am leaning hard on Bart and our daughter Rachel and her husband Michael who are here with me.

We are so grateful for the faithful care of so many of you and the ways you are supporting us at this time. Thank you for the meals, the practical gifts you've offered and most of all the prayers.

The spiritual care and prayers are the thing that undergird our family. Many of you have been through similar stories with your own family and friends and we now share in the understanding of that challenging journey.

Thank you for all your continued support. It is times like these we feel the grace of God and the comfort of our family and community.

Mission Matters
Common Cathedral
sandwich-making pausing for August but...

You can support Common Cathedral through the Boston Marathon!
We have great news.... Rev. Laura Shatzer, who many of us remember and worked with in her role as a pastor at CityReach, is running the Boston Marathon in support of Common Cathedral!

Common Cathedral Executive Director, Amanda Grant-Rose, wrote to Pastor Amy: "It was such a surprise that we got a charity bib through BMC and we could not think of a better person to run than Laura! I know that while Laura was working for Common Cathedral she had a special relationship with your congregation so I wanted to make sure you know that she would be back to run the marathon on Oct 11th!"

Laura's running page is below! Please consider supporting Laura and our wonderful partners at Common Cathedral with your prayers and/or gift.

Newton Freedge: Summer Volunteers Needed!
Despite Newton’s image as an affluent suburb, too many of our neighbors struggle to put food on their tables. The Newton Freedge is one way we can help. A free, 24/7 outdoor refrigerator and pantry, the Freedge provides free food and personal supplies to anyone who needs them. We are in need of more volunteers to help on Saturdays this summer. Please Email [email protected] for more information and to join our team!
