Sunday. July 17th at 10.00 a.m.
Gathering in Memorial Chapel and on Zoom
We will continue our theme of "Calling", examining our own calls as people of faith. As we embrace the more relaxed pace of summer, we will gather in the Memorial Chapel and worship will be more informal, followed by time for fellowship (outside, weather permitting). Pastor Amy and Gerry Elion will take the lead in worship on this Sunday. They will examine the call story of Moses in Exodus 3: 1 - 15

Join UCW friends and a Park Ranger from the National Parks of Boston to explore the rich history of Beacon Hill's 19th century Black community on Sunday, August 14th from 1 – 2:30 p.m. We can catch the train from church at Noon to travel together.

If you would like to join us
please sign-up HERE.
(We have reserved 15 slots for our group.)
The Black Heritage Trail® showcases residences and community buildings associated with a Black community that thrived on, and near, the north slope of Beacon Hill before, during, and after the American Civil War. Throughout that time, this community struggled and organized for equal rights and access to equal education. Community members championed the movement to abolish slavery and even housed freedom seekers on their journey along the Underground Railroad.
This tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. It begins across the street from the Massachusetts 54th Regiment Memorial in front of the Massachusetts State House and ends at the Museum of African American History, covering about 1.4 miles.

This Weekend! July 15th & 16th
Mijin Choi, Minister of Music,
The Union in Waban
As some of you know, in addition to my work as the Minister of Music at The Union Church in Waban, I also work as a faculty member at South Shore Conservatory. I am looking forward to performing in several of their concerts this summer as part of Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) and Evenings Under the Stars (EUS, Hingham), on 15th & 16th. There is a flyer with all of the information, which can also be found at summer.sscmusic.org. I am also able to offer a discount code, which is UCWN10 which gives a discount of both EUS and the first three DMF concerts. Please consider joining me for these fantastic concerts.

Mission & Service
Newton Freedge: Continued Need!
The Union Church in Waban is a Freedge partner responsible for helping connect with local businesses, stock, and monitor this needed local resource two Saturdays a month. We are in need of volunteers in the coming weeks.

The work is easy and rewarding, with multiple slots throughout the day. Despite Newton’s image as an affluent suburb, too many of our neighbors struggle to put food on their tables. The Newton Freedge is one way we can help. A free, 24/7 outdoor refrigerator and pantry, the Freedge provides free food and personal supplies to anyone who needs them.

To learn more, contact Vinita at [email protected], or sign up below.
