May 30, at 10:00 a.m. Worship
This Sunday, we come along side Nicodemus as he meets with Jesus under the cover of darkness to learn about this new life that Jesus speaks of (John 3:1-17) . We also listen in as the Prophet Isaiah hears a call on his heart to step out into service of God even as he wrestles with his own inadequacy to be of much service to God (Isaiah 6: 1-8). These are powerful texts of call. Powerful stories of how the Spirit moves in people's lives. We will consider what the Spirit may have in store for us as we discernment how we are to emerge from this COVID-19 time of isolation, fear and loss.
It is fitting that we will also share in the blessing of a baptism and the reaffirmation of our call as a congregation to nurture each and everyone as a beloved child of God and member of the household where Love reigns.
To join worship on Zoom:

Thank you, Kids and Youth!
Come Holy Spirit!
We just wanted to share a huge thank you to the Children and Youth Ministry Teams and all our kids, youth, and parents for our great gatherings in May (and for a really incredible year overall!) A special thanks to the PONDS, COULLS, and PURSERS for lending us their awesome backyards for these most recent gatherings, and to Cindy, Kathy, and Soo for their leadership of the Children's Team and Middle School Youth Group.

Youth Group Service Opportunity!
Common Cathedral
This Sunday, May 30th - with prep beforehand
We hope everyone will join us as we share worship and lunch with our partner congregation Common Cathedral on Boston Common. The Common Cathedral is a church without walls, and many of its members are unhoused. We will join them to share 150 lunches with any who are hungry and will then join them for their 1:00 p.m. worship service. We're grateful for donations of food and sandwich prep ahead of time, help bagging the lunches on Sunday morning (swing by the church at 10:00 a.m. to help!), and help serving downtown on Sunday afternoon (we'll be headed down around 11:00 a.m. to arrive by 12:00 noon).
All are invited!
Please contact Pastor Amy for more information, or
click on the Sign-up Genius link below to add your name for donations or volunteering!

Update from Phase Forward Committee
As of May 29, Governor Baker will relax almost all COVID19 restrictions in Massachusetts.
What does that mean for UCW?
The Phase Forward team met this week, and with the guidance of Sandra Nelson, have decided to be a little more cautious than the state allows in order to continue to safeguard those among us who are not vaccinated (children under 12 and others) and those who remain vulnerable despite the vaccination due to underlying health conditions.
We are adopting the following recommendations for The Union Church beginning May 29:
1. Continue Sunday Worship remotely on Zoom
2. Allow indoor use of the sanctuary and other spaces without capacity limitations provided
- all wear masks
- singing occurs only with masks on
- those with COVID 19 symptoms refrain from entering the building
- all continue to hand sanitize/wash hands frequently
- there is no food or drink shared in groups indoors (no "coffee hour")
3. Allow outdoor gatherings with unlimited attendance and without masks, provided
- unvaccinated individuals maintain six foot social distancing
- singing occurs only with masks on
- food is consumed in small/family groups socially distanced
A complete and updated guideline from Phase Forward will be posted on the web site in the coming days.
Otherwise, we are pleased to be able to gather more freely and look forward to finding ways to see each other soon!

Listening in is a conversation between Tom Vawter and Pastor Stacy as they take some time to explore the depths of some gorgeous poems. They offer this conversation as a way to enter in and listen in to where the beauty of the poem may be speaking and ministering to us in this profoundly challenging time we are in. May it be a blessing to you. Go HERE to access the video or click on the image of Tom.
