YOU'RE INVITED:

We are honored to partner with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and Temple Sinai.

JFCS East Bay is co-sponsoring a nonpartisan Oakland Mayoral Candidate Forum for the Jewish Community.

Thursday, September 15 | 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Temple Sinai (2808 Summit St, Oakland, CA) & Online

The featured candidates will be Treva Reid (Councilmember, District 7), Loren Taylor (Councilmember, District 6), and Sheng Thao (Council President Pro Tempore, District 4).

This will be a great opportunity to learn each candidate’s position on our community concerns, such as confronting antisemitism and racism, ensuring community security, creating inclusive educational curriculum, and advancing social justice.

The Jewish Community Safety Net

Did you know that JFCS East Bay offers a Jewish Community Safety Net? This program is designed to help stabilize Jewish community members in the East Bay who are going through challenging times.

The program offers emergency financial assistance alongside information and navigation services, benefits application assistance, ongoing telephone support, food delivery services, and mental health support.

“We saw the community’s need,” says director Rita Clancy. “With the support from the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, we were able to start assisting all who reached out and we were able to ramp up our services.”

DONOR HIGHLIGHT:

Thank you for helping refugee families!

We are pleased to announce our cooperative effort with Leidos and NASA Ames Research Center, Ames Veterans Committee (AVC). The AVC is a non-government sanctioned group of military veterans and NASA Ames employees. Leidos and the AVC care deeply about the wellbeing of Afghans and Ukrainians who are adapting to life in their new home.

The Bay Area cost of living can be challenging for us all. To relieve the stress on new arrivals, Leidos and the AVC have donated 10 laptops, 5 mobile engineering workstations, 10 monitors, and 15 backpacks. This donation will ensure our clients have the technology tools both to engage the labor market and to communicate with loved ones back home.

We share our deep gratitude for this partnership.
