November 2021

I hope you’re all doing well. This week is our 10th anniversary, and while we won’t be together to celebrate, I’m incredibly grateful for the decade we’ve shared. Thank you to all who came by to visit and shop during our last few weeks in the shop! We loved seeing you!

Updates from Mindy
After closing the Danville shop in August, many wonderful friends and family helped to pack up the remaining stock and prepare it for supporting our online shop. Additionally, we spent several weeks selling our fixtures and display items, organizing documents, and cleaning up the shop and Learning Studio spaces to be transitioned back to the property management company. It was truly a team effort and I'm so thankful for all who contributed their time and support.

You might recognize some of our fixtures or display baskets in other wonderful local yarn shops like Aranea Craft Studio (our newest Bay Area LYS…. more details below), Busy Stix, Fillory Yarns, Fiber Circle Studio, Noma Knits, and Uncommon Threads. A bit of our legacy lives on with them.

By mid-September, we were fully out of our Danville space, and realized we needed a break! This has been a deeply emotional process, and even now, I’m not sure it’s fully sunk in.

In early September, I began to pursue my next dream of writing my first novel. I’m taking a writing class that’s supportive, encouraging, and I am getting closer to that goal; my first draft should be complete by the end of November. This story is not set in a yarn shop, nor does it relate to knitting, which enables me to truly transition from thinking about the shop 24/7 and to engaging a different part of my creative brain.

I’ve also been catching up with family and friends, baking, resting, reading, and reigniting some healthier practices like meditation and walking. I had a flare-up of tendonitis in my right arm, so I’ve needed to find other relaxing crafts besides knitting while it heals (it’s a slow process). I can’t wait to knit again! Please take care of your body to avoid any repetitive stress injury.

Leslie has been busy working on a secret knitting design project, as well as helping customers with commissions, hand-knit repairs, project help, and lessons. If you’d like to schedule time with Leslie, you can reach her at, or check out her teaching schedule at Aranea Craft Studio. Leslie’s bags and notions are available on Etsy at and some of her notions are also at Aranea.

Cindy is enjoying her retirement, visiting with family and friends, knitting, crocheting, and keeping up with her creative and witty button business, now available on Etsy at

We miss you and hope you are doing well! Drop us a note anytime at! Our new contact details have now been updated at the bottom of this email and on our website too.

With love and wishes for a very happy holiday season!

Welcome, Aranea Craft Studio!
Due to space constraints, I’ve kept our online shop stock limited, so if there’s something you need and you don’t see it there, it’s a great opportunity to check out Bay Area's newest local yarn shop, Aranea Craft Studio, in downtown Hayward. It’s definitely worth the drive!

Erin, the owner, is a talented knitter, spinner, weaver, and sewist and she’s just getting started. Erin offers a wonderful selection of yarns, needles, notions, and she's set up a long table for crafters to sit and visit.

She also has a full online shop and digital gift certificates available, perfect for holiday giving!

Leslie is now teaching at Erin’s shop, providing another familiar face.

Find all Aranea Craft Studio details at and on Instagram (@araneacraftstudio). The shop is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm.
One-of-a-Kind Handmade Gift Ideas
In addition to the array of gifts already available in our online shop, we are adding some unique gifts.

Over the years, we knit or crocheted one-of-a-kind projects to spotlight yarns and patterns in the shop, sharing inspiration for a new project.

Some of these beautiful items are now available in our online shop, just in time for your holiday shopping. We’ll continue to add more categories and items to the online shop as we get them photographed!

Don't delay! Each item is one-of-a-kind, so shop early for the best selection. Descriptions and details are listed below the photos.

These are perfect gifts if you run out of time! Do you have friends and family who love to give handmade gifts? Feel free to share this link with your friends and family too.
