The Children's Trust Announces
Updates to Trust Central Grids Coming in June 1 *
On June 1 you will see updates to the grids in Trust Central. Grids are utilized within several modules of Trust Central including SAMIS and Contracts. These enhancements are useful and will create a better experience including better searching and filtering.
 
Updates and improvements include:
  • Search Refinement- including saving views to facilitate future searches
  • Viewing Records
  • General Navigation- including the new “View” icon

A business roundtable entitled "Miami-Dade County Non-Profit Sector: Before, During, After... COVID-19," and featuring a number of important executives, including The Children's Trust's Stephanie Sylvestre, Chief Programs Officer/Chief Information Officer will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 1-2:30 p.m. The roundtable is part of Thursday Roundtables: An Interactive Webinar Series held by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. The webinar is FREE.

Other participants include program emcee Sherry Giordano, executive director, PACE Center for Girls, Stacy Palmer, editor of The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Miami-Dade Commissioner Daniella Levine Cara and others.

Seeking Child Care Providers for Thrive by 5 Early Learning (QIS)
Applications are open to become a part of the Thrive by 5 Early Learning Quality Improvement system (QIS). Through the Thrive by 5 QIS, early learning programs and teachers will have access to comprehensive opportunities to improve and sustain high-quality early learning programs. To access more information on Thrive By 5 QIS, including a description of benefits and supports click here .

Licensed child care programs that meet all of the following criteria qualify to participate; those meeting some criteria may qualify, depending on available resources:

  1. Serve 30 percent or more young children (under age 6) receiving a school readiness subsidy
  2. Located in a low-income neighborhood
  3. Serve infants and toddlers 

Applications for 2020-2121 must be submitted no later than June 1. For instructions and step-by-step guide click here . Providers that are currently participating in Thrive By 5 QIS will need to submit an application, however, your application will automatically be approved.

COVID-19 Catalog in Trust Academy

Reopening Guidance Courses in Trust Academy

The Children's Trust and CypherWorx, Inc. are offering courses for you in Trust Academy that are full of useful information, how-to safety considerations, and access to important CDC and OSHA links for important information designed to keep your staff, customers, clients and employees safe.

FREE Young Talent Big Dreams Countywide Competition Moves Online
The show must go on! Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, together with presenting sponsor The Children’s Trust, have gone virtual to reopen auditions for the 10th anniversary season of Young Talent Big Dreams (YTBD), the most widespread talent competition for youth in the county. The competition will continue with kids between the ages of 8-17 submitting preliminary round audition videos that showcase their talents. Prizes remain the same and the semifinals and finals will be held in front of live audiences in late August and September, respectively, at The Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, conditions permitting.

StayHome.Miami Launches to Provide Fun & Activities for Families
The Children's Trust has launched StayHome.Miami , a new website that serves as a central repository for resources to parents and the community at large during the COVID-19 crisis. This resource is full of valuable information to help families cope with the challenges they are facing right now. More importantly, it give parents and caregivers useful tips and activities to help them and their children navigate the disruptions to daily lives. StayHome.Miami will help families enjoy their time together while staying safe at home. Resources and activities include read-aloud e-books, free downloadable coloring books, and many other fun and interactive options. If you have any resources, activities, or ideas to contribute to the website, please reach out to us and let us know.
Submit Audits Electronically
The Children’s Trust now requires that all audit confirmation requests be submitted via email. These requests can be submitted to audit.confirmations@thechildrenstrust.org . We appreciate your flexibility and hope you are staying safe during this time.

For audit extensions, please email audits@thechildrenstrust.org . We will be closely monitoring any future dates that could also be possibly affected by the pandemic.

Still Time to Fill Out Census Online
If you haven't received an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census online, or have but have not yet done so, there is still time. Options to fill out the census are available online, by phone or by mail. As providers, you are in a unique position to help direct families on filling out the census and informing them that it's safe, easy and important. Remember, the individuals you serve are often those who will most benefit from an accurate census count.

Make Up for Lost Time in Getting Kids Ready for Kindergarten for FREE *
From June to August the Waterford Upstart program is an in-home kindergarten readiness program that gives children a fun start in reading, math and science in just 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week. The program offers free devices for those who don't have equipment, uses hundreds of hours of instruction through a specialized software, is easy to use and provide supports to those who use it.

Synergy Symposium Speaker Series *
Equity and resilience mapping with integrated data: Aligning early childhood needs, resources, and policies. This 2-hour event will explore how big-picture data can improve Miami-Dade child outcomes, bringing together early learning practitioners, researchers, and community advocates. Presenters will share new mapping--made possible by integrating data across provider systems--and attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback on how we can better align research, practice, and policy.
  • Equity and integrated data use: A national perspective
  • Neighborhood risk and child resilience: Baseline maps for Miami-Dade
  • What factors might shape unexpected outcomes? Interdisciplinary perspectives

This second-annual gathering is organized by a partnership of agencies, the Miami-Dade IDEAS Consortium for Children, with a shared mission focused on the needs of children from birth through age eight. The Synergy Symposium series was created by Concerned African Women, Inc. We hope to continue this work in person at the fall 2020 Synergy Symposium.
