Summer is just around the corner and normally the City of Farmington Hills is bustling with activities including day camps, swimming, art programs, senior classes, hockey, soccer, outdoor special events, and the list goes on. Normally, our parks are filled with kids at the playgrounds and swimmers at the Costick Pool. We are hoping to get back to this soon!
The Department of Special Services is closely following recommendations and guidelines from the Governor’s office, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Oakland County Health Department as it pertains to public parks and recreation activities and facilities. We are awaiting further direction from these agencies in order to make appropriate decisions on which activities we will be able to offer this summer.
Our Summer Activities Guide was posted online and mailed to our residents prior to the Governor’s Stay at Home Order. Unfortunately, the majority of our special events and programs have been canceled through June. Participants who enrolled in programs that didn’t take place or only partially took place will be refunded accordingly. Although we continue to take registration for programs that take place after July 1, decisions on program implementation is yet to be determined. Once the Governor’s Stay at Home order is lifted and new guidelines are released by officials for public gatherings, our staff will be able to modify our programs accordingly. All Special Services (Parks and Recreation) events, programs, classes, and rentals are suspended through May 28, 2020.

- EVENTS Several large events that take place over the next few months including Art on the Grand, the Great Farmington Hills Campout, and Stars in the Park Concert Series have been canceled.
- SUMMER CAMPS Are canceled through June. We will make the decision to cancel or operate July and August summer camps, by June 1. Should we offer summer camp in July and August, we will share new summer camp program descriptions and registration information on fhgov.com, our social media channels, E-Newsletter, and emails to individuals who previously registered for a camp in 2020, as well as, 2019 participants.
- MEALS ON WHEELS Meals continue to be served for home bound senior residents. If you know a senior citizen in need of Meals on Wheels service, or need more information about the Meals on Wheels program, please call 248-473-1865
- SENIOR TRANSPORTATION Essential senior transportation services to medical appointments are being maintained, please call 248-473-1854.
- PARKS & TRAILS Are open for general use. The Dog Park remains open. Please practice social distancing while in City parks. Please be advised that some park amenities remain closed.
- FARMINGTON HILLS GOLF CLUB is open. Golf carts are permitted for single riders only. Participants living within the same household may travel on the same cart. The driving range opens Friday, May 22. For information or tee time reservations, call the Pro Shop at 248-476-5910.
- FACILITIES The Costick Center, Ice Arena, Nature Center, Jon Grant Center, Longacre House, Riley Skate Park, and Riley Archery Range all remain closed through May 28.
- PARK SHELTERS & FACILITY RENTALS Currently, we are not accepting any reservations for park shelters, facility meeting room rentals, or birthday parties.
