SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends,  I hope you are all doing well and keeping safe during this time. On behalf of the entire Hospice Vaughan organization I would like to thank you all for your continued support. We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming response we have received from our volunteers, donors, and community friends to help us continue our important work. We could not do it without you!  We understand the toll the pandemic is having on the health care system, and we want you to know our team is working hard everyday to ensure we continue to provide the best care and services to our clients and their families. All programs and services are offered to the community free of charge. During COVID-19 Hospice Vaughan has seen demand for services increase by over 25% and we have adapted to suit these growing needs. We want you to know we are here for you, and it remains our goal to ensure our community has the support they need - when they need it most. Thank you to everyone who has participated in our community programs, fundraising events, and COVID-19 response initiatives, together we are making Hospice Palliative Care more accessible to members of our community. HOSPICE VAUGHAN GALA TO GO RAISES OVER $215 000!

LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL RIDE! On Friday, October 16th over 500 gala to go meals were served and over 700 community members joined the live virtual Hospice Vaughan Gala to Go! We are overwhelmed and grateful for the support we received that evening. A special thank you to Gala Co-Chairs Louie Chiaino and Ester Paris Mauro for making the event possible. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a live streamed performance by and chat with Alan Frew of Glass Tiger; had a sneak peek at the future home of Hospice Vaughan; and had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a brand new Vespa or a 50/50 jackpot. Thank you to Alan Frew for giving guests the opportunity to participate in a live auction, with proceeds directly supporting Hospice Vaughan’s programs and services by generously donating a customized and signed guitar, and tickets to the next Glass Tiger concert. Local Tim Hortons staff all smiles about this years Smile Cookie week campaign donation to Hospice Vaughan.

$82, 918.16 RAISED FOR HOSPICE VAUGHAN! Local Tim Hortons restaurant owners throughout Vaughan, Woodbridge, Thornhill, Richmond Hill and Maple, along with their staff and customers raised $82,918.16 for Hospice Vaughan. For the last three years, 56 local restaurants have supported Hospice Vaughan through the Smile Cookie Campaign, raising a total of $240,000. These funds support the capital campaign going towards Hospice Vaughan – Mario and Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence set to open later this year. HEARTS FOR HOSPICE DROP OFF PROGRAM The Hearts for Hospice Drop Off Program continues! Care packages continue to be developed by hard working volunteers and staff. The care packages focus on a number of different areas including mental health, stress relief, motor skills, infection prevention and more. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers and donors for making this program possible. Care packages support our palliative clients as well as their caregivers and loves ones. LIGHT A CANDLE For a donation of $25 or more you can Light a virtual candle in honour, in memory, or for hope. These virtual candles offer compassionate and thoughtful sentiments to loved ones.
