Message from the CEO
As summer fades away, it's hard to believe we're already heading into fall! I hope you all managed to find some time this summer to take a break, unplug and recharge.

I'd like to give a huge shout-out to everyone across the tri-state region for completing the employee engagement survey – with almost 77% of you putting forward your voices and feedback, we can learn from the survey results and address and improve on any areas that need it.

September 15 through October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. It is a time dedicated to recognizing and appreciating Hispanic and Latino Americans' culture, history, and accomplishments.

Join us this month as we celebrate and reflect on the contributions and influence of the Hispanic/Latino communities. This celebration reminds us to recognize and embrace our differences, while also acknowledging the universal experiences that bring us together.

Optum Tri-State region welcomes new CMIO
Nate Wayne Scadlock
Congratulations to Nathan “Nate” Wayne Scadlock, DNP, ARNP, FNP who joined the tri-state leadership team as our new chief medical information officer (CMIO). Nate comes to us from Optum Oregon, where he most recently served as the market director of Clinical Informatics. He will report to Dr. Lewis Kohl, tri-state’s chief digital transformation officer.

In his new role, Nate will continue to build upon the strong informatics presence, training capabilities and patient-facing technology that have been established across our region. He will work with our clinical and technology teams to maximize capabilities within Epic to make workstreams faster and easier for our clinical care teams.

We are excited to have Nate’s leadership and expertise to further our technological advances throughout the region. Please join us in welcoming Nate to our tri-state team!
Educating our patients
Our new Better Health blog is a great way to connect with our patients in a whole new way. Optum Tri-State patients will have an opportunity to read and watch educational content about the wide range of specialties and services we offer.

This month, we have an informational video introducing patients to our tri-state sleep medicine services, highlighting common conditions as well as treatments and resources they can find with their Optum sleep medicine providers. Stay tuned to the Better Health blog for more updates throughout the year!

The Optum Office for Provider Advancement is hosting a Women in Medicine Forum on Oct. 3 from 4-5:30 p.m. ET, featuring a discussion on resilience and thriving in times of change.

Introducing our state-of-the-art medical office in Bayonne, NJ
In July, we were thrilled to announce the grand opening of our comprehensive services. We are proud to provide the Bayonne community with expert cardiology and internal medicine care, all in the same building. We look forward to continuing to be an integral part of the Bayonne community and serving our patients in this brand-new medical facility located at 191 Lefante Way.
Introducing our brand-new surgery center in Woodbury, NY
We’re excited to announce the grand opening of the Day Op Center of Long Island in Woodbury, NY. This state-of-the-art surgery center with multiple operating rooms opened its doors earlier this week on September 12. The new center delivers cutting-edge surgical services and personalized care to both adult and pediatric patients not requiring hospitalization.

Crystal Run Healthcare physician sprints through the London Marathon for Make-A-Wish Foundation
Dr. Manuel Perry, board-certified oncologist and hematologist at Crystal Run Healthcare in New York, recently completed the London Marathon while raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. After first completing the Boston Marathon in 2022, he committed to running the six World Marathon Majors (Boston, London, New York City, Tokyo, Berlin and Chicago) within the next few years. Good luck with your next marathon Dr. Perry! We’ll be cheering for you.
