CALL TO ARTISTS

We cordially invite members to submit their exceptional 2D and 3D works across a diverse spectrum of media. As in previous years, each member may contribute one piece for the main exhibition and up to two unframed pieces for our portfolios. Find the A&C SPRING EXHIBITION 2025 PROSPECTUS HERE.

All artworks must be available for purchase at a reasonable price. Our customary low 20% commission will remain in place aimed at bolstering support for our valued members. Participation in the show is exclusive to A&C Members, so if you haven't already, now is the perfect time to join the A&C.

Matt DeProspero, a contemporary realist painter who works and teaches from his studio and gallery in Lambertville, NJ will preside as the juror for the event. Winning artists will receive notification of their awards, with the official presentation scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 3 pm to 5 pm during our Opening Reception. This occasion presents an opportunity for members to connect with peers and savor light refreshments amidst celebration.

Given the multifaceted nature of the Member Show, we kindly request entrants to sign up for volunteer positions. Volunteering not only fosters camaraderie among members but also plays a pivotal role in advancing the A&C's mission of bringing art to the public. Please volunteer HERE

Stay tuned for forthcoming details regarding the plein air event, and exciting prizes as they become available.

30TH ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL ART EXHIBITION

Opens March 19 at Hicks Art Center Gallery

Reception and Congressional awards ceremony take place Sunday, March 30; show with more than 200 works is on view through Saturday, April 12

The Hicks Art Center Gallery, which has showcased rising young artists for more than 60 years, invites the public to the 30th Annual High School Art Exhibition March 19 through April 12 at Bucks County Community College in Newtown.

Art teachers from more than 20 high schools have selected works crafted by their students between May 2024 and March 2025, to be considered for the U.S. Congressional Art Competition Prize. In addition, the works are also in the running for the 30th Annual High School Art Exhibition Awards, all totaling $1,500 in prize money,

“For these young artists, having their works exhibited in the college’s galleries gives them a taste of the professional art world while establishing a sense of collectiveness with their peers” said Clifford Eberly, Exhibitions Associate at the Hicks Art Center Gallery. “We hope it inspires them to continue to pursue their creative passion, be it here at Bucks, or elsewhere.”

High school art contests are held in every congressional district each spring. The first-place winning artwork from the Bucks County exhibition will be sent to Washington, D.C., to represent Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District on display in the U.S. Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel for a year. Winners from each district are also published online, here:

BCCC-2024 Congressional Art Winner-Cucina, a digital photograph by Cooper Tyksinski of Central Bucks High School West in Doylestown, won the 2024 Congressional Art Award and now hangs in the Canon Tunnel of the U.S. Capital Building to represent the 1st Congressional District. Its successor will be named Sunday, March 30, during an awards ceremony with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for the 30th Annual High School Art Exhibition at Bucks County Community College’s Hicks Art Center Gallery.

More than 200 artworks in drawing, painting, photography, digital media, ceramics, fibers, sculpture, and furniture showcasing the young artists’ creative talents will fill the galleries and hallways of Hicks Art Center.

A reception and awards ceremony take place Sunday, March 30 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will present the awards at 1 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

The event is hosted by the College’s School of Arts and Communication, which offers eight associate degree majors and two certificate programs. Bucks County Community College is an accredited institutional member of both the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the National Association of Schools of Music.
