Isabel Steiner, The Attic, graphite on paper (2025 PA 1st Congressional District Art Prize)

This year’s judge is Abi Lua, Assistant Curator at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.

Competitions such as this are held in every congressional district nationwide each spring. The first-place winning artwork from this exhibition will be sent to Washington, D.C., where it will represent Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District and be displayed in the corridors of the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for a year.

Over 200 artworks in drawing, painting, photography, digital media, ceramics, fibers, sculpture and fine craft showcasing the local, young artists’ creative talents fostered by esteemed high school art teachers will fill the galleries of Hicks Art Center.

Clifford Eberly, Senior Manager of Galleries and Exhibitions at Hicks Art Center Gallery says, “What I appreciate the most about this annual exhibition is seeing the powerful immensity of wide-ranging art by young artists that shows the various stages of confidence, technical skill, experimentation and mostly unfiltered self-awareness that is integral to the creative process.”

The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, April 4. A reception and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 29 from 12:30 – 3 p.m. Pennsylvania District 1 Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will present the awards at 1:00 p.m. which is free and open to the public.

Hosted by the Bucks County Community College School Visual and Performing Arts at Hicks Art Center. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 -4 p.m. during the exhibition.
