Our landlords are submitting permit applications for much of the significant work on the space. They’ve developed plans to build us FIVE new bathrooms (including a shower and laundry hookups in one)!
Once they get their permits, they’ll begin work on the right side of the space. Next, we'll submit our own permit application so that we can install the doors between the rooms, build a couple of walls, and start making the space into a haven for all of us! Special thanks to our architect, Joe the Zumba instructor — he’s the best!
Meanwhile, we’ve already started work on the front of the house. Erin and her husband Pete took care of that old carpet in the reception area, and it’s become quite the space to work in -- with our hands and our heads! Here’s Erin, Pete, and Carson's husband Rob working on the dance floor and here’s Jess working on making sure you folks stay informed about the week’s schedule changes!
What? Did you hear “dance floor"? YES! We have our first dance floor built and installed in our yoga/practice/video room. We built a test floor to make sure we’re on the right track before building the giant floors in our two big dance rooms. So, with every second that we had to spare between working and working out, we learned how to construct the floor, got the materials, grabbed our husbands and put noses (and knives, pry bars, chop saws and tapping blocks) to the grindstone!
The result is a gorgeous, comfortable, bouncy floor that is knee-friendly and fun to dance on!
If you’d like to come by and test it out, you’re more than welcome — just let us know and we’ll be glad to welcome you to join us in practicing a song or working on some new choreo! Meanwhile, we’ll keep you posted on studio updates, and be sure to keep an eye out for an announcement about our upcoming dance-floor-building and painting parties!
