The Congenital Heart Assessment Tool

The Congenital Heart Assessment Tool (CHAT) is an early warning tool for parents to use at home with their infant between first and second stage of surgery for complex congenital heart disease; enabling identification of normal infant behavior and detection of signs of clinical deterioration. CHAT provides parents with information about when and who to call for management advice and support, enabling a structured system for articulation of concerns and potentially earlier intervention from the clinical team. This e-learning resource is aimed at healthcare professionals wishing to implement the CHAT within a package of parent preparation before discharge home with their infant.
