Partnering to Support

Maine Families from the Start

We’re so thankful for the continued partnership of healthcare providers across Maine who help families learn about their child’s $500 Alfond Grant—whether you work in labor and delivery, pediatrics, family care, or community health. This year has been a challenging one for many hospitals, and we’re especially grateful for all you do to make sure families feel supported from the very beginning.

With Maine’s hospitals and healthcare teams by our side, more than $90 million has been invested for over 180,000 Maine children—an incredible impact! Read on for program updates and new materials you can use in your facility to help families access this opportunity and start planning for their child’s future.

New Waiting Room Slides Now Available!

We’ve created a new set of Alfond Grant waiting room slides—perfect for sharing on screens in your office or clinic to help families learn about the grant while they wait. The slides are available in PDF format, but we can provide another format if that works better for your setup. Just click the image above to download!

Don’t forget—we also have laminated QR code posters and tear-away flyers available! If you’d like copies or need to reorder materials, just email us at info@myalfondgrant.org, and we’ll be happy to mail them out.

Raising awareness of the Alfond Grant by serving as a trusted voice for families is one of the simplest—and most impactful—ways you can help. Even small actions in your office can make a big difference in a family’s success story!

Leading the Way in Early Wealth-Building

The Alfond Scholarship Foundation recently co-hosted a two-day national convening in Boston with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and the College Savings Plans Network at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, bringing together leaders from across the country to explore ways to expand early wealth-building programs for children and families.

As a pioneer in this field, the Alfond Grant continues to show how early investments can help families build a strong foundation for their child's future. Events like this help shape national strategies and highlight the important work you do every day to support Maine families.

Connecting Families to Alfond Grants

Big Impact in 2025!

So far in 2025, Maine hospitals have seen over a 24% increase in families completing Alfond Grant contact cards compared to 2024! Making this early connection helps families begin building hope and aspirations for their child’s future from day one.

A special thank-you to Maine’s largest hospitals for keeping the Alfond Grant front and center. They are leading the way with almost a 26% increase in contact card completions—while also welcoming even more families due to closures elsewhere in the state. Truly amazing!

Because of your everyday efforts, families are starting strongwe couldn’t do it without you!

Community Partner Spotlight:

Maine American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

The Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Maine AAP) works to improve the lives of children and teens across the state. Through our partnership, we’re able to bring information about the Alfond Grant to families at pediatric offices statewide.

While many first hear about the Alfond Grant at the hospital, it’s easy for that message to get lost in the whirlwind of caring for a newborn. Pediatricians play a key role by reinforcing that message during well-child visits, helping families stay informed and inspired about their child’s future.
