UPDATES AT THE PERMIT CENTER

FROM DBI

GREETINGS,

After a hiatus of two years because of the pandemic the BSA (Building Safety Alliance) at last had their luncheon on Thursday, December 1 at the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, There was an excellent attendance and the meals served were delightful! BSA Executive Director Daniel V. Fross commenced the lunch acknowledging the Board of Directors and senior and retired electrical inspectors present. The guest speaker was Department of Building Inspection Director Patrick O’Riordan who spoke about how important the role of electrical inspectors is. The need for electrical inspectors is greater now than ever before with the now requirement for all electrical systems on new developments including restaurants and power for EV’s.

SMALL BUSINESS FIRST YEAR FREE FEE PROGRAM

First Year Free is a program passed by the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor to support and revive San Francisco small businesses as the City recovers from the pandemic. The program waives the cost of initial registration fees, initial license fees, first-year permit, and other applicable fees for qualifying businesses. There is no extra paperwork to apply – enrollment is automatic when you register as a new business or new location with the City.

In cases where fees have been paid DBI will refund the fee. I recently had a project where the refund was substantial and the turn around time was a matter of weeks.
