Dear Friend –
We made it! At midnight last night the 2023 Maryland General Assembly officially came to a close. We’ve worked hard this session, and I wanted to give you a quick synopsis of what we did.
I’m proud to announce that the following legislation I sponsored passed the Assembly and is now with the Governor for approval:
HB226/SB21 – Expanding the legal definition of authority figure to further protect minors from sexual victimization
HB284/SB222 – Establishing a study & needs assessment to set up a Producer Responsibility Program for Packaging
HB607/SB471 – Addressing stormwater runoff pollution by requiring MDE to update sediment control plan specifications
HB516 – Antimicrobial Report Date Change
HB378/SB310 – Black Bear Damage Reduction & Reimbursement Fund
HB406/SB275 – Snares, Traps, & Other Similar Devices ID Requirements
Additionally, I’ve included just a sampling of the hundreds of legislative policies we passed that are on their way to becoming law:
SB1 – Gun Safety Act of 2023
SB781/HB793 – Promoting Offshore Wind Energy Resources Act
HB70 – Safe Access for All (SAFE) Roads Act of 2023
