We made it! It’s midnight, and the 2022 Maryland General Assembly has officially come to a close. I am proud of the hard work we have done this session to pass our top priorities into law, and could not wait another minute to send you an update!
The General Assembly voted to enact the following bills into law over the Governor Hogan’s vetoes:
HB 937 – Abortion Care Access Act
SB 275 – Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program
SB 53 – Child Interrogation Protection Act
HB 778 – Investment Program – MARC Rail Service
HB 1021 – Licensed Firearms Dealers – Security Requirements
HB 609 – Local Health Officers – Removal – Process
SB 259 – Procurement – Prevailing Wage – Applicability
SB 1 – State Finance and Procurement – Prevailing Wage – Stop Work Orders
HB 580 – Maryland Transit Administration Police – Collective Bargaining
HB 90 – Office of the Public Defender – Placement and Collective Bargaining
Here is a selection of bills the Governor allowed to become law without his signature:
SB 528 – Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022
HB 740 – State Retirement and Pension System – Investment Climate Risk
HB 459 - Juvenile Justice Reform
HB 649 - Discharge Permits - Inspections and Administrative Continuations
HB 1450 - Blueprint for Maryland's Future - Implementation Plans and Funds-Alterations
HB 571 - Access to Counsel in Evictions Special Fund - Alteration
SB 6 - Tenant Protection Act of 2022
SB 541 - Great Maryland Outdoors Act
We also passed a budget with bipartisan support for tax cuts including:
Tax Cut for Centenarians (HB 186)
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (HB 2)
