A Closer Look: Advocacy in Times of Crisis
A year ago this month we began adapting our child advocacy program to meet COVID-19 safety guidelines. As our community faced a multitude of changes—social distancing, stay-at-home orders, Zoom meetings, remote learning—one notion cut through all of the uncertainty and has guided our work for the past 12 months: advocacy can’t wait in times of crisis.

Statistics show that incidents of child abuse and neglect increase during times of stress. As the world shut down, we knew that the children we serve needed us more than ever.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we adjusted to new ways of advocating and operating. With continued community support and thanks to our dedicated volunteers, board members, and staff, we continue to safely recruit, train, and support CASA volunteers who advocate for the most vulnerable children in our community.

So far this year, cases show children have experienced significant neglect. Here is a closer look:

  • Drug Abuse: Needles and drug paraphernalia in reach of children; parent selling/using drugs; children testing positive for drugs

  • Mental Health: Parent untreated and unwilling to get help

  • Domestic Abuse: Children witnessing abuse in the home

  • Intoxicated Parents: Toddler left alone while parents went out drinking; parent incarcerated for driving under the influence and leaving child without care

Your support ensures we can provide CASA volunteers to advocate for children who are facing unimaginable adversity in their young lives. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to work to change stories!

With gratitude,
Nicole Ronk, Associate Director
Thank You, Corey and Anna!
Corey and Anna Linsley are genuine, devoted champions for children. We can never thank them enough for being key players on our CASA team. The difference they have made for children and families in our community is immeasurable and will be felt for years to come.

The pair has worked selflessly to advance the CASA mission since 2017, when they were sworn in as CASA volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children under court protection in Brown County. Corey and Anna advocated for a sibling group through 2018, helping them reach a safe, permanent home.

In addition to their work as CASA volunteers, Corey and Anna served as honorary co-chairs of our annual CASA Presents: Champions for Children fundraising event for four years. Anna is also a member of our Board of Directors. Through their unwavering support and passion for helping children, they helped raise awareness and funds to sustain our CASA child advocacy program.

Good luck in SoCal, Corey and Anna! All of us here in the Frozen Tundra wish you nothing but the best.
The #63 Legacy Continues
Two weeks ago, Andy Herman, writer, recruiter, NFL scout, and self-proclaimed die-hard Packers fan, started an incredible movement with one simple tweet. He had made a $63 donation to CASA of Brown County in honor of Corey and Anna Linsley and encouraged fellow Packers fans to do the same.

Andy knew Packers fans have big hearts.

In just 12 hours, nearly 80 donors from all over the world raised over $5,000 for our cause. To date, 243 donors have raised $15,193.96 in honor of Corey and Anna!

We are constantly amazed by the generosity and compassion that runs through our community. Thank you to Andy Herman for starting the $63 movement and to everyone who has donated to CASA of Brown County to honor the remarkable impact Corey and Anna have left on the Green Bay area. Your generosity will help us reach more children who need a caring, supportive advocate by their side.
