The 24 Solar Terms of the Chinese Calendar

The Chinese people use both solar and lunar calendars for farming and holidays. The solar calendar is known as the 24 solar terms (jie qi 節氣)that describe the changes in nature and guide farming activities, while the lunar calendar defines many Chinese holidays, such as the Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival (the Mid-Autumn Festival). Each of our newsletters will introduce one of the 24 terms. The first one is Summer Solstice, the Arrival of Summer. It begins on June 21st and ends on July 6th.

The Chinese Tea Culture

Tea has become a significant cultural element not only in China but also in the world. The leaves and flowers from various plants allow people to be creative and artistic. Our newsletter also provides you with a couple of herb tea options corresponding to the 24 terms. As you may know that the ancient Chinese believe that we human beings are one together with the sky and the earth. Drinking different herb teas according to the change in nature is a perfect way to seek that harmony.

Watch the following two videos and have a small taste of the rich tea culture.
