Looking Back at History:

Anna May Wong (黃柳霜) - The First Chinese Movie Star in Hollywood

The first Chinese immigrants to America were through the “Gold Rush” (1849) and the later railroad-building boom (1864 –1869). In addition to the more traditional contributions, such as labor in mining, railroad, and laundry, many Chinese and their descendants made unique contributions to American history and society.  Anna May Wong was one of the early pioneers that expanded the boundaries of Chinese Americans. She is recognized and featured in one of the 2022 American Women Quarters Coins
