The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines close contact as “someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before symptom onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, 2 days prior to a positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.”
Testing is recommended for close contacts of persons with SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19) infection who were not wearing appropriate PPE at the time of the contact. While awaiting results patients need to isolate/self-quarantine.
For a known close contact exposure:
- ConvenientMD will adhere to CDC Guidelines in regards to our testing protocol.
-
Asymptomatic employees should wait until 5-7 days from initial exposure. Research has shown that this is when the testing of viral levels is most accurate.
- ConvenientMD currently offers PCR testing for our employer partners who are testing for COVID-19 with an approved or customized Treatment Form.
- The current turnaround time for results is 3-5 calendar days.
You are encouraged to visit the CDC Website for Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates and your local Department of Public Health or Department of Health & Human Services for up-to-date information.
