We need your contributions! #WhatsKochen invites enrolled college students from across the US and Canada to submit video entries via TikTok to our 2021 contest. Don’t forget to include the hashtag #WhatsKochen, follow us on TikTok @daadnorthamerica and submit your entry now through June 20, 2021.

Important Dates & Deadlines for DAAD Programs, Scholarships, & Grants

As of now, we expect all funding, programs and internships below to resume as planned. For any updates, please visit the funding page and www.daad.org.

This specialized DAAD program offers German Studies Research Grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany. The program is designed to encourage research and promote the study of cultural, political, historical, economic and social aspects of modern and contemporary German affairs from an inter- and multidisciplinary perspective.


  • July 11, 2021: Leo Baeck Institute/DAAD-Fellowship
  • The Leo Baeck Institute is a research, study, and lecture center whose library and archives offer comprehensive documentation for the study of the history and culture of German-speaking Jewry. Fellowships are awarded for research in New York or Germany on the social, communal, and intellectual history of German-speaking Jewry. Financial assistance is provided to doctoral students for dissertation research and to young academics for the preparation of a scholarly essay or book.

Postdoc Funding Opportunity PRIME
Postdoc Researchers International Mobility Experience

The DAAD PRIME program funds temporary positions at German universities to support the international mobility of postdoctoral researchers. Postdoc researchers who see their long-term career perspectives in Germany receive funding for a research stay abroad based on a temporary position at a German university. In addition to the stay abroad, the funding also includes a return phase for

Annual GAIN Conference

Join us for the digital Virtual GAIN21 from August 25-27, 2021! The annual conference and talent fair of the German Academic International Network is the largest gathering of German universities, funding agencies and scientists abroad. For U.S. and Canadian Citizens
2022 International Parliamentary Scholarship Program

Every year, the International Parliamentary Scholarship Program invites a small group of Americans and Canadians to work in the German Bundestag for three months as part of a five-month program including the opportunity to take free courses at any of the Berlin universities.
Applicants are expected to speak German at a level of at least B2 and not be older than 30 years at the time of the program, March-July 2022. The Deadline for applications is July 31, 2021. For more information, please click on the link below!
