DWIH San Francisco
The German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) opened its new office in San Francisco early this year. It is the second DWIH location in the U.S. working to strengthen Germany’s reputation as a land of research, science and innovation by providing a platform for leaders in science, technology and the humanities to engage in exchange and collaboration. The DWIH San Francisco is now hiring a Head of Programs and a Program Officer.

New Partnership
Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship

The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A Gilman Scholarship Program and DAAD. DAAD Germany will provide 40 additional scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students per year to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. The award allows students from accredited U.S. higher education institutions to strengthen their skills and expand their educational experiences while living and learning in Germany.

For Faculty and Administrators
Germany Today

The Germany Today Information Tour is designed to give participants a broad overview of Germany’s higher education landscape. This year's tour is themed "German Higher Education Institutions and their Role as a Gateway to the European Higher Education Area" and will visit institutions in Freiburg, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Darmstadt, and Mainz. Representatives from universities, research institutions, funding agencies, and other organizations in the field of education policy are invited to apply. Program-related costs in Germany (accommodation, domestic travel, most meals) will be covered by DAAD.

Online Language Courses for Faculty
Learn German

DAAD is pleased to announce this opportunity available to faculty members in the US and Canada from all academic fields (except German Language and Literature and German Translation and Interpretation) to attend online language courses offered by the Goethe-Institut in North America year-round. Participants may take either two 5- or 8-week courses in succession or one 16-week course starting in the spring or summer of 2022.

North American Jews Meet Modern Germany
Germany Close Up

"Germany Close Up – North American Jews Meet Modern Germany" is a youth encounter program for Jewish students and young professionals from North America aged 18 to 40. Participants will engage in an in-depth discussion on Germany's reflection on and remembrance of its past as well as its modern-day political system and society. This 9-day program will take place in Germany.

Summer Internship Opportunity
GAIN Summer Internship

DAAD is currently accepting applications for a summer internship with the German Academic International Network (GAIN) in the New York office between May/June and September 2022. The internship involves assisting with organizing the 22nd Annual GAIN Conference of international mobile researchers from Germany. Interns may complete the internship virtually or in our New York office.

Job Opportunity
Head of Programs, DWIH San Francisco

The German Center for Research and Innovation San Francisco (DWIH) is seeking a full-time Head of Programs. This is an in-house position with the possibility to work remotely. The Head of Programs will work closely with the Executive Director of the DWIH and will be responsible for communications and outreach strategy, growing and maintaining the DWIH's extensive network, and developing and managing events in accordance with the DWIH's primary goals.

Program Officer, DWIH San Francisco

The German Center for Research and Innovation San Francisco (DWIH) is currently seeking a well-organized and team-oriented person to join us as Program Officer for our newly established branch. This is an in-house position with the possibility to work remotely. The Program Officer will be responsible for a range of tasks related to accounting and administration, including event organization and management, accounts payable and receivable, budget preparation, database management, and general office management and administration.
