"So you can be the first, just like I was."

Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships provide funding for students at US universities who receive Federal Pell Grants to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program.

Our central office in Bonn spoke to Shelby Smith, Gilman alum and Biology student at Murray State University in Kentucky, who was able to spend a semester at the University of Regensburg as a part of the program.

Check out the interview here to hear her reflections on her time in the program and her advice for fellow first-generation students interested in going abroad!
