The DAAD headquarter is located in Bonn and many of our German colleagues are affected by the devastation. DAAD staff is committed to supporting applicants and funding recipients. DAAD AInet Fellowship
Postdoctoral Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence

The DAAD AInet Fellowship is awarded to outstanding international early career researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. Awardees will be invited to join the Postdoctoral Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence (Postdoc-NeT-AI), a hybrid networking program that brings them face-to-face with leading researchers with the goal to initiate collaborations and career opportunities. Additionally, awardees will be included in the DAAD AInet Fellows & Alumni Network, offering them a long-term gateway to German AI research, and bringing them together with other bright researchers from all over the world. Apply by August 2, 2021.

Falling Walls Lab

Pitch your innovative idea in just 3 minutes, showcasing a breakthrough that creates a positive impact on science and society. The winner will get to travel to Berlin, Germany (travel & accommodation covered) to pitch their idea in the Falling Walls Lab Finale and attend the Falling Walls Conference conference in Berlin.

October 10 - 16, 2021
Germany Today: Dresden, Jena, Leipzig, and Berlin

DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions, and funding agencies in the US and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics to join us for our 2021 Germany Today Tour. This year’s tour will focus on how higher education institutions in Germany approach today’s societal challenges through engaged modes of cooperation. Apply by August 22, 2021.

Short-Term Lectureship

The Short-Term Lectureship provides financial support for hosting German professors and lecturers for short-term teaching engagements at universities in North America.
It aims to promote activity in specialized fields, help fill curricular gaps, or act as a stimulus for teaching and research. By facilitating teaching, German educators share their knowledge, skills, and experiences with students and faculty on campuses in the United States and Canada. Open to all disciplines for lectureships in duration of four weeks to six months.
Next application deadline: September 13th, 2021.

German Network Opportunities and Events
Annual GAIN Conference

Join us for the digital Virtual GAIN21 from August 25-27, 2021! The annual conference and talent fair of the German Academic International Network is the largest gathering of German universities, funding agencies and scientists abroad. We invite you to join the meeting with over 500 postdocs, scientists and experts from various research areas and gain access to information about career paths and funding opportunities in Germany. More than 100 German universities, research institutions, companies, and funding agencies can offer jobs and support as well as provide valuable insights and best practices at our talent fair. New Funding Program
Konrad Zuse Schools of Excellence in AI

DAAD is expanding its range of funding opportunities relating to artificial intelligence. Under the new program, DAAD is supporting the establishment of three ‘Konrad Zuse Schools of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence’. The schools will aim to give a comprehensive boost to the education of outstanding young AI researchers at master’s degree and doctoral level in Germany. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, about 25 million EUR will be available under this innovative degree and doctoral program. Applications from university consortia are open from now until the end of October.

For U.S. and Canadian Citizens
2022 International Parliamentary Scholarship Program

Every year, the International Parliamentary Scholarship Program invites a small group of Americans and Canadians to work in the German Bundestag for three months as part of a five-month program including the opportunity to take free courses at any of the Berlin universities.
Applicants are expected to speak German at a level of at least B2 and not be older than 30 years at the time of the program, March-July 2022. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2021. For more information, please click on the link below!
