“With the help of the Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship, I was able to afford to attend one of the top business programs in Germany at the University of Mannheim. I became more comfortable employing my German skills in everyday life and made lifetime friends with whom I can practice. Now, I feel more prepared as a German and business major to find a job in my field, with opportunities available to me both within the United States and abroad. I am incredibly grateful for having received this scholarship.”

Host an Intern from Germany
RISE Worldwide
Research groups, laboratories, and doctoral students in the United States are invited to apply to host motivated, well-qualified students from Germany as a part of the RISE Worldwide internship program. Interns will assist in research and lab work for the proposed project in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, computer science, medicine, or a closely related field. DAAD scholarships will help coving living expenses and travel costs.
Submit project proposals by September 30.

Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships
The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A Gilman Scholarship Program and DAAD. DAAD will provide 40 additional scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students per year to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. The award allows students from accredited U.S. higher education institutions to strengthen their skills and expand their educational experiences while living and learning in Germany.

RISE Germany for Undergraduate Students
RISE Germany is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering and computer science. RISE Germany offers unique opportunities for bachelor degree students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a duration of three months (minimum stay ten weeks) during the summer.

RISE Professional for Graduate Students
RISE (Research Internship in Science and Engineering) Professional offers research internships in Germany for up to six months to Master’s and PhD students (as well as qualifying undergraduates and recent graduates) from the US, Canada, Great Britain, or Ireland at companies and non-university research institutions with strong relations to industry. All participants receive a scholarship from DAAD and an additional stipend from their host company/institution to help cover living expenses.

Research Stays
DAAD offers grants for one to three months in all academic disciplines to scholars at US and Canadian institutions of higher education to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. The aim of this particular program is to support short-term research stays and thus promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

Information and Networking Fair
Career Booster EUrope
DAAD will be among the exhibitors at the Career Booster EUrope information and networking fair, where students can meet and network with representatives of EU companies in the US, universities, funding institutions, consulates, study abroad organizations, vocational training schools and others as well as attend panel discussions, presentations and workshops. The event is geared towards high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students, as well as anyone interested in a future with world languages. Attendance is free of charge.

For Prospective Leaders
German Chancellor Fellowship
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants up to 50 German Chancellor Fellowships to prospective leaders from Brazil, China, India, South Africa and the USA – irrespective of their field of work. Together with a German host and mentor of their choice, fellows conduct a socially relevant project they have developed independently.

DAAD North America is looking for temporary help from November 1 through (approx.) December 31, 2023 to help process scholarship applications. Applicants should be fluent in English (plus, ideally, in German), have an interest in international higher education, be able to work with Excel, work with great attention to detail, and be available at least 30 hours per week. We offer an hourly rate of $17/hour, a stimulating work environment, and a letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the work.

What is Studying in the US Like For Students from Germany? | | |

Studieren Weltweit - Erlebe es! is an informational campaign by DAAD that seeks to tell the stories of students from Germany studying around the world with content made by students, for students. Each year, The Studieren Weltweit team creates a network of correspondents who write about their experiences abroad in blogs and on social media. One correspondent, Viviane, is documenting her time completing an internship right here in New York as a part of her studies in elementary school education and integrated special education.
