Bader Philanthropies, Inc. is generously supporting DLAC through a 2-year-grant which allows us to expand the art as therapy services we provide to elders, just like Sandy, in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties. This elder group is for people age 65 or over and includes elders with dementia, living in low-income housing and living independently, and their caregivers. For the elder programs, DLAC art instructors have developed art activities that foster connection to memory through exploration of different senses, using specialized tools and materials that promote alternative means of self-expression. There is an emphasis on building new relationships and strengthening existing relationships in the elder’s life.
