More than 50 Broward County community leaders attended Family Promise of Southeast Florida’s recent “Brighter Future Breakfast” on Thursday, October 19, at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort.
Attendees included Broward County Circuit Court Judges, foundation and congregation representatives, nonprofits including Broward Healthy Start Coalition, FLITE Center, Women in Distress, The Poverello Center, and TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness, as well as government agencies and officials from Hollywood to Deerfield Beach.
The invitation-only event included a meet-and-greet and breakfast where guests had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Family Promise of Southeast Florida board, staff, and volunteers. The presentation provided an overview of our scope of services and expansion efforts and finished with a lively discussion during an interactive Q&A, which lasted a full hour.
According to the Florida Department of Education, 5094 Broward County students were identified as homeless in Broward County in March 2023. This number does not include children who are too young to attend school.
The success of our breakfast brings us one step closer to establishing a network of community partners willing and able to work with us to assist Broward County families experiencing situational homelessness.
With sustainable independence as the goal and the support of this new network, we can service more families in crisis throughout Southeast Florida. We will continue to assist families within Palm Beach and now, Broward County by providing temporary shelter, meals, mental health counseling, referral services, and comprehensive case management as well as outreach services.
