GGE Learning Labs are established in public schools across underserved communities and typically include about 10 computers and one or more EdTech devices. To date, we’ve set up labs at 28 schools, reaching approximately 22,400 students in total, with an estimated 3,500 actively engaged learners who regularly use the resources.

On October 20th we had the privilege to attend the EdTech Week conference at Columbia University and had our own booth. We came to EdTech Week with two clear goals: find EdTech companies with educational content that could be uploaded onto our device, and identify potential partners who could help us establish new computer labs in different locations. We have found everything we could have ever wished for and our network is just so much bigger. Read our blog here

The Education Corner

Why Offline EdTech May Be the Missing Link

Across the world, millions of students lack access to the internet, a barrier that significantly hinders educational opportunities. According to UNESCO, nearly half of the world’s population remains unable to access online resources. Currently, the majority EdTech solutions depend on reliable internet connectivity, however, offline EdTech can bridge this gap immediately.

Offline learning platforms, such as GGE’s device delivering Khan Academy content, allow students to learn anytime, particularly in remote or underserved communities. A growing body of research illustrates that access to self-paced digital content assists in mending learning gaps, boosting confidence, and empowering students, particularly when utilized alongside teacher support.

In countless ways, offline EdTech may be the missing piece in achieving educational equality worldwide while internet infrastructure slowly catches up.
