Tomorrow: America Screening at Rochester Jewish Film Festival

ImageOut is pleased to be the community partner for the JCC Rochester Jewish Film Festival’s screening of AMERICA on Saturday, August 5 at The Dryden Theatre, 6:45pm.


About the Film: “An Israeli swimming instructor who lives in Chicago returns to Israel after a 10-year absence to bury his father and sort through his affairs. There he reconnects with his beloved childhood friend, who lives with his fiancée, setting off a series of events that will affect everyone’s lives. Following the international success of the acclaimed film, The Cakemaker, writer/director Ofir Raul Graizer presents a visually beautiful and poignant story about friendship, sexual identity, trauma, and forgiveness. About the Screening: "This screening is dedicated to Michael Gamilla, ImageOut Film Festival Programmer, whose love of film, passion for fashion, and generosity of heart will forever be remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, including all of us at RJFF. Sep 18: To Wong Foo Screening at Rochester Fringe Festival

Join us for an ImageOut Extra Special Pedestrian Drive-In Screening of TO WONG FOO, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING! JULIE NEWMAR (1995), presented in partnership with Rochester Fringe Festival, on the evening of Monday, September 18 at One Fringe Place (100 W. Chestnut St. Rochester, NY 14604). 7:45pm showtime. Free. 13+.


About the Film: “See the first Hollywood studio movie to put drag queens front and center—where they have always belonged! In this hilarious and heartfelt comedy, three New York City drag queens (Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo) hit the road to Hollywood to compete in a beauty pageant…only to wind up stranded when their Cadillac breaks down on the outskirts of a small Midwestern town. They initially stick out in all the wrong ways, but soon the queens are teaching the residents a thing or two about guts, glitz, and glamor.”

Honoring Michael's Legacy

In conjunction with Michael's Lifetime Achievement Award last fall, we created The Michael Gamilla Fund to provide underwriting support for our film festival. We're certain that he would want to see LGBTQ+ film continue to thrive in our community, and this is a great way to ensure that.


Those interested can contribute to the Fund in honor of Michael’s legacy and in memory of our beloved dear friend. Checks can be mailed to our office at 274 N. Goodman St., Ste. A203 Rochester, NY 14607. They should be made payable to “ImageOut” with “Michael Gamilla Fund” in the memo line. Online donations can also be made via credit, debit or EFT.
