May 2024

Greetings from Port Ludlow,

This month is really the beginning of the harvest and production season for our local farmers and artisans. As most of us are gearing up for warmer weather and longer days to get outside, relax, and play, our dedicated agriculture friends are tending the crops and live stock from sun up to sun down.

I am so grateful for their commitment to tending, harvesting , and producing the highest quality, most amazing products I have ever had the pleasurer to work with.

I feel lucky that I have had an opportunity to meet and get acquainted with a great many of our local farmers and artisans. One of the great things I think I have witnessed and learned when speaking to these fine folks is they all have a passion for sustaining and preserving the land in perpetuity while also taking great pride in the products we get to enjoy.

I also know that this is, for them a labor of love, many of our friends have struggled to survive the rising costs of products, labor, and all the other costs it takes to run their business. Many of them fear that if they raise their prices some of us will purchase less product. I have committed to supporting our local partners and I hope you will all do the same.

There are many ways we can all better support these dedicated folks, most are at one or more farmers markets, many have their own farm stands, some offer CSA's and of course you can support the restaurants that support them as well.

This month send in a photo of how you supported a local farmer or artisan and in next months news letter we will announce a randomly selected winner to receive an overnight stay and chef prepared farm tasting menu for two.

Cheers,

Dan Ratigan
