Letter from the Director

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Partners in Christ,

I pray all can feel the presence of the Lord in your life. What an awesome privilege it is to have the Holy Spirit of God in us. As Easter is approaching and reflecting on the sacrifice our Lord made for us, it is overwhelming and brings me to a higher level of surrender, death, and resurrected life!

Philippians 3:10,11 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

As I survey the cross this week of passion more and more, I realize our only response to the cross is our death to self. It amazes me how far I think I've come only to realize how far I'm away. I love Jesus and nothing can get in the way of knowing Him!

At Safe Harbor we are consistently preparing for a harvest of men to Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference. That being said: we have found ourselves growing to our highest occupancy to date 70+ men and in need of a new building to house our treatment program and chapel. The Lord has provided the vision, with drawings and plans. I am confident He will also provide the funds to bring it to fruition. ($350,000)

Philippians 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

He is doing a good work at Safe Harbor and this spring, I pray His good work continues in you and you experience a time of Spiritual newness in your life and Jesus has full Lordship in all you do!

Please keep us in your prayers and we would love to see you! Come and visit us and see what He is doing and how He might want you involved!

With Gratitude and Praise,

Pastor David Elkins & The Staff of Safe Harbor

Client of the Quarter - C.H.

“My Mother got pregnant at the age of 13. Her being a kid herself, she wasn't ever around. I grew up with my Grandmother, who was an abusive alcoholic. So, feeling abandonment, I would hang out with whoever, to feel any kind of love I could get.  Quickly I started hanging out with the wrong people. Doing drugs became the normal in order to hide the pain. Through the years, I lost everything, my family, friends and most importantly I lost myself.

I want to share a little about what its like to live as someone struggling with addiction, and who is now walking the path of recovery. Addiction isn't just about the drugs, its about the way it takes over your life, thoughts, relationships and sense of self. For me, it was like living in the storm that I couldn't escape from, that promised relief, but only left destruction behind. But, God blessed me with Safe Harbor, and I have discovered a strength I didn't know I had. I've learned that everyday I stay clean is a victory, every choice I make to show up for myself, my loved ones and my future is a small miracle.  Recovery has taught me patience, resilience and self compassion. It shows you that its okay to stumble, you just got to keep getting back up. But if there is one thing I could tell someone that is struggling is to understand this; addiction does not define you, its a chance to reclaim your life, get closer to God and find freedom so we can go out there and make a difference.

Thank you."

Partner of the Quarter - Morgan Olson

Safe Harbor of Jefferson County recognizes Morgan Olson as our Partner of the Quarter.

Our renewed partnership has been nothing but uphill since last year. The clients that are employed there are treated excellent and are regarded like full time employees.

On a recent walkthrough I was impressed that the supervisor I walked with knew every single associates name (over thirty).

Very soon we are expecting in influx of on-boarding. Many clients at Safe Harbor can expect a good career for those that wish to roll over at Morgan Olson.

Thank you Morgan Olson for great partnership and hope for many years to come.
