Let's Talk About Heart Health | |
Heart disease is a major health concern and is the leading cause of death in the United States and Erie County. Some people ignore heart disease symptoms and early warning signs. Untreated heart disease can lead to serious problems like heart attacks, strokes, and even death. Heart disease is serious, but can be managed with medical treatment and lifestyle changes. It is important to understand that you can maintain a good quality of life with proper heart health care.
February is Heart Health Month. Review this important publication and help raise awareness for heart disease symptoms by sharing what you learned with your community.

Would you like to bring essential sexual health education, resources, and testing to your school, organization, or community center?
The Erie County Department of Health's Sexual Health Center offers presentations and workshops to meet the health education needs of your community.
They offer sexual health education events/presentations, VOICES/VOCES* workshops, and/or testing events.
*VOICES/VOCES is a sexual health education program delivered in small groups, offered in English and Spanish languages.

New York State Dept of Health Recognizes Cancer Prevention Month | |
The New York State Department of Health recognizes February as National Cancer Prevention Month and encourages New Yorkers to take steps to reduce their risk of cancer. New York State and Erie County continue to offer preventive health care, research, and community programs.
Cancer is one of the most common chronic diseases in New York State and is second only to heart disease as the leading cause of death. Each year, about 115,000 New Yorkers are diagnosed with cancer. Almost 19,000 individuals die from a tobacco-related cancer each year, accounting for 56 percent of all cancer deaths in New York State, according to a report.

Reminder! Tune In and Take Note: Art, Music, and Mindfulness for Families | |
Cultrue, Inc. invites adults and youth ages 10 and up to Eat Off Art for a series of nine classes that will combine mindfulness, art, and music to assist in creating clearer and more thoughtful tools for communication within our families and communities.
Each session will consist of the following:
- Collectively choosing one emotion from the “Emotions Wheel.”
- Discussing its definition and personal relation/experience with the emotion.
- Each person chooses a song that reflects the chosen emotion.
- Individually listen to songs, create art, and journal in sketchbooks about the chosen emotion.
- A mindfulness session and guided meditation that assists in a gentle connection to the chosen emotion using active listening and trauma-informed communication.
- Closing discussion – How can we better communicate the chosen emotion with family and community?
Additional support offerings for each class:
- In-person/virtual 1-hour group support sessions
- Monthly art engagement opportunities (Come Make Art)
The facilitator for this event is Tiffani Moore of Moore Well-Beings LLC. She is an intuitive healer and coach as well as a trauma-informed (and certified) yoga instructor and breathwork and meditation facilitator.
This event is sponsored by the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Youth ages 10 and up and families are encouraged to register and attend.
Each participant will receive art supplies and tools they can take home with them (headphones, sketchbook, markers, journal, crayons, paint, and art canvas)
Registration is required. Events are scheduled through April, 2025.
Each session will take place at the Eat Off Art Studio + Place in the Tri-Main Center, 2495 Main St., Suite 441 in Buffalo.
