Shadow the Organist Program
About once a month, our new YPPC Music Director, Michael Varnadore, will offer the opportunity for our younger folk to sit with him on the organ bench during Sunday worship. They will get first-hand experience of the behind-the-scenes activities of being a Church organist. It will be interactive. They will pull stops, turn pages and arrange music as the service flows. If you know someone who would like to participate, please call Michael at 843-813-3007.
What's the Name of that Hymn You Were Just Singing?
Our congregational hymns are chosen to support the weekly message delivered by Reverend Smith. In addition, we have several places in our service where the Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir sings/rings. It is during those times that Michael would like to feature some of your favorite hymns led by the choir, handbells, or a soloist. To kick off this program please TEXT your favorite hymn AND name to Michael Varnadore – 843-813-3007. It can be out of most any hymnal as he has a large collection. Once the hymn is selected for inclusion in a particular service you will get a text back with the date so you can be sure to hear your favorite hymn.

Making a Difference - by Feeding Those in Need
In 2017, we were looking for ways to expand the outreach of our Food Pantry. Our Interim Pastor at the time, Art Gatewood, suggested that we ask the Hanahan Police Department (HPD) to help us by having the officers carry bags of food in their patrol cars in the event they come in contact with a family or homeless person in need of food. The HPD was very agreeable to this idea and on April 26, 2017, we signed a Memorandum of Agreement. Through this partnership, we provide 12 bags of food with two meals for four people and bags of individual-sized foods and hygiene items for the homeless. We have a new supply of food bags ready for pick-up! (Thanks to each of you who donated food or helped pack the bags.)
American Red Cross Community Blood Drive
We are hosting our next blood drive on Wednesday, October 5th, and we need your help to hit our patient need goal. Due to a continually low blood supply, patient care remains at risk. Every donation counts and is vitally important to rebuild the blood supply, especially as surgeries are delayed by the omicron variant. In recent weeks, the Red Cross had less than a one-day supply of critical blood types and has had to limit blood product distributions to hospitals. At times, as much as one-quarter of hospital blood needs are not being met.
Our May 25th blood drive collected 31 pints of blood, well above our goal of 22 pints. That blood was immediately transferred to local hospitals due to the urgent need. Unfortunately, that need still exists today, and we urge you to put October 5th on your calendar. Please see Ed Rogers for registration information.
