Corona: The Saint That Went Viral
At the beginning of March, it would have been quite a challenge to find a Catholic who had ever heard of St. Corona, to say nothing of finding one who had prayed to her. Since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, however, the second century martyr has attained a newfound prominence online...

Bishop Tobin renews the consecration of the Diocese of Providence to the care of our Blessed Mother
Friday, May 1, 2020
In the video above, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, along with all the Bishops of the United States and Canada, formally renewed the Consecration of our Nation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. The Diocese of Providence, RI, under the protection of the Blessed Mother of Divine Providence, has now formally renewed its consecration.

Through a collective dedication or entrustment of a nation to Mary, an act of consecration is meant to be a reminder to the faithful of the Blessed Mother’s witness to the Gospel and to ask for her effective intercession before her Son on behalf of those in need.

Although the ceremony was not open to the public, Bishop Tobin said, “I will have in my mind and heart all the intentions, needs and prayers of the members of the Church in the Diocese of Providence.”

Recognition of our 2020 Jubilarians
The video above is courtesy of the Office of Post-Ordination Formation, Diocese of Providence, RI, in recognition of our 2020 Jubilarians - those priests celebrating a milestone anniversary of priesthood.

Traditionally, this annual recognition is held at a gathered celebration, which unfortunately was canceled due to the pandemic

Masses were offered on both Sunday, April 26 (for all the priests of the Diocese) and Monday, April 27 (for all priests celebrating a jubilee anniversary this year). This video is a recognition of all priests in the Diocese of Providence, RI celebrating a jubilee anniversary.

Let us continue to pray for one another and for an end to the pandemic.

Domestic Violence Information & Resources during the COVID-19 Crisis
The Diocese of Providence remains deeply concerned about the increase in domestic violence calls as a result of the coronavirus crisis. In the last year, the diocese has started its own domestic violence ministry, “Pathway to Peace,” and has provided support to many seeking our help.

During these unprecedented times, we are urging anyone who finds themselves in the pathway of domestic violence danger to call the 24/7 confidential statewide helpline at 1-800-494-8100.
