Level Up is officially underway

The Level Up Business Branding program has kicked off — and we’re already rolling up our sleeves with our first participating businesses.

Thanks to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Community Collaboration Fund, this 12-month initiative connects Howard County small businesses with professional, hands-on marketing and branding support.

Inventrek Tech Park has welcomed Vision Studio as a satellite strategic partner for the program.

Applications and nominations are still open! We’ll continue selecting one or two businesses each month through July 2026. If you know a small business ready to define its brand, reach more customers, and grow with confidence, now’s the time to get them in the mix.

Learn more about the program here.

Are you eligible for Level Up?

To be considered for the Level Up Business Branding program, businesses must:

• Be based in Howard County

• Have fewer than 100 employees

• Be operational or very near launch

• Demonstrate market potential and a readiness to grow

• Lack internal marketing staff or resources

• Be involved in local entrepreneurial programming or be willing to become engaged

Own a piece of Kokomo's public art

The art from this year’s Artist Alley exhibit is now available for purchase. This is a great chance to own a piece of Kokomo’s vibrant public art while supporting these talented artists.

To purchase art or learn more, visit or contact Artworks Gallery at 765-459-4579 or kokomoartassociation2014@gmail.com. You can check out Artist Alley in the alleyway next to Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Main St. in downtown Kokomo.

Looking ahead, a fresh new exhibit will open in September with an artist reception during First Friday — marking the next chapter in downtown’s creative revitalization.

Artist Alley is a vibrant outdoor art gallery and revitalization project created through a partnership between the Greater Kokomo Downtown Association and the Kokomo Art Association. This initiative transforms a once-forgotten alley into a dynamic space showcasing murals and sculptures that celebrate our community’s creativity and heritage.

New First Friday theme brings community together

On Aug. 1, the community celebrated back-to-school season in downtown Kokomo ... the First Friday way!

The Greater Kokomo Downtown Association ushered the start of the school year with its newest First Friday themed event: Get Schooled. Guests strolled through the heart of Kokomo donning their school's colors as they learned something new about local organizations, experienced local art, enhanced their style at downtown shops, and made summer memories before heading back to class.

Next month, First Friday fans can partake in an Art Mystery Scavenger Hunt while touring downtown's art scene during First Friday: Art Walk on September 5.

Area guides available for businesses

Here’s something you might not know: Businesses and organizations can pick up stacks of the Kokomo Area Guide — free of charge — to share with customers, clients, new hires, or guests.

Created by the Kokomo Visitors Bureau, the guide is more than a resource for things to see and do. It helps visitors make the most of their time here and encourages residents to take pride in their hometown. That positive image matters. Visitor spending has a ripple effect because it supports local businesses and fuels our economy.

To get copies for your business, click here to email Sherry Matlock, manager of the Visitors Bureau.

Updated downtown attraction map available

Our popular Downtown Kokomo Attraction Map has been refreshed with the latest shops, restaurants, public art, and points of interest. A digital copy is available here for your convenience, and printed maps are available at both Kokomo Visitor Centers — inside Inventrek Technology Park and the downtown branch of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library.

The Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance creates and maintains these maps to help visitors and residents alike explore and enjoy all that downtown has to offer. By making it easier for people to discover local businesses, attractions, and events, we help strengthen our community’s economy and keep Kokomo’s vibrant core thriving.
