Spring 2022 Cybersecurity Mentorship Program Hits Record
The spring 2022 cycle of the Cybersecurity Mentorship Program kicked off on March 1st with a RECORD total of 41 mentee/mentor pairings (up from the previous max of 25). This cohort includes mentees from six new schools and mentors from ten new companies/organizations.

This competitive program matches diverse cybersecurity undergraduate students with a professional mentor to expand and grow the diversity of the cybersecurity talent pool in Massachusetts.

We are proud to report that the program has now reached 101 diverse college students across the Commonwealth in the four cycles of the program since launching in fall 2020.  
Virtual Cybersecurity and STEM Webinar
MassCyberCenter is holding a virtual panel discussion on April 27 at 12:00 PM in support of the Cybersecurity Mentorship Program and the 2022 STEM Summit focused on the intersection of cybersecurity and STEM.

The panel will focus on what the STEM requirements are for cybersecurity, how a STEM curriculum can support cybersecurity education, and how cybersecurity employers can engage STEM students.

We welcome cybersecurity/STEM students, adults seeking reskilling into the cybersecurity field, and employers looking to attract talent for cybersecurity/STEM roles to register.
Tabletop Exercise Attracts Key Players to Discussion
Late last month, the MassCyberCenter brought together representatives from all levels of government and the private sectors for a tabletop exercise designed to work through key questions when addressing a major cybersecurity incident.

Thank you to all of the organizations that participated in this important planning exercise, critical to securing our infrastructure and keeping our economy running. Here are a few that joined us: CISA, EOTSS, EOPSS, Massachusetts National Guard, City of Worcester, Town of BelmontMITRE, ACSC, Milford Regional Medical Center, MS-ISAC, and WaterISAC.
WBZ “New England Weekend” hosts episode on cybersecurity
MassCyberCenter Director Stephanie Helm was interviewed on the potential for cyberattacks given the recent international conflict and reviewed what everyday citizens and small businesses can do to bolster their cyber resiliency.

Funds Available for Hiring Interns
Companies can be reimbursed for up to 50% of the intern's hourly wage up to $8 per hour for a total of $3,200/year per individual intern. Cybersecurity companies can apply for up to 3 interns.

The program enables eligible companies to hire eligible interns, helping drive innovation and keeping our tech sector dynamic, vibrant, and growing across the Commonwealth. 
EOTSS Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program Awards
Director Helm, spoke at the award ceremony for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program.
These awards, managed by the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS), will provide critical cybersecurity training to over 57,000 employees from 210 municipalities and public school districts across Massachusetts.

Cybersecurity is a growing issue that should not be ignored. The Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program is an important resource for the Commonwealth’s local governments and public schools to address this issue head-on while increasing their cyber threat resiliency.” - Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.
