Thank you to the Lynn Board of Health (BOH) for highlighting the UV Pilot Program, as well as addressing resident concerns to noise at their recent meeting on August 5th.
During the BOH meeting, the Public Health Director provided an update on the King's Beach UV Pilot Program.
As mentioned, the program's purpose is to serve as a temporary solution to keep King's Beach open more frequently by reducing bacterial levels. Due to the lack of onsite power, a generator is being used, which has led to noise complaints by some abutters. In response, both Lynn and Swampscott have utilized additional sound blankets and fencing to mitigate the noise.
Regarding noise complaints, the City of Lynn has been in contact with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) to conduct an inspection and noise measurements. MassDEP is expected to be on-site this month, within the coming weeks. Once the inspection results are received, the BOH will review the results and take appropriate action.
