Donating Items For Foster Girls

The time before and after Christmas is often when we clean out old toys to make room for the new toys. We'd like to take advantage of that and use it as an opportunity to help the foster girls at the Anne Elizabeth Shepard Home. We are still unable to resume our monthly dinners due to COVID, but we would like to send monthly care packages next year until we can get back together. The girls love playing board games, doing puzzles and watching movies.

You can drop off games, puzzles, or movies at the church office from 9am to 3pm, Tuesday - Thursday.

Please make sure ...
*Items are clean/in good shape and all the pieces/parts are included.
*Items are appropriate for girls ages 12-18.
*You are giving items you would be happy for your children to receive.

If you want to purchase toys, movies or puzzles to donate, that would be great too!

Message Notes

Message Title: The Glass Is Half Full

Whoever looks for good will find kindness, but whoever looks for evil will find trouble. – Proverbs 11:27, NCV

8 Reasons from Romans 8 to Remain Optimistic:

1. My sins are forgiven. (8:1)

2. Jesus intercedes for me. (8:34)

3. Future victory is greater than present pain. (8:18)

4. My mind is filled with the peace of God. (8:6)

5. If God is for me, who can be against me? (8:31)

6. God’s spirit is with me. (8:25-26)

7. God is working. (8:28)

8. Nothing can separate me from God’s love. (8:35, 37-39)

Study Guide:
1. What’s something good that’s happened to you in 2020?
2. If you could make one thing go back to normal right now, what would you choose?
3. Have you ever thought of optimism as the expectation that God will work every situation for our good? What do you think about that?
4. Read Romans 8:38-39. What would your life be like if you completely trusted that God was always with you and for you?
5. Have you ever seen God work a difficult situation for the good of someone who loves Him? What happened?
6. How can you shift your mindset so that you trust, in every situation, that God is working for our good?

Prayer: Father, thank You for hope. Thank You that, even when negativity is all around us, we can focus on You and trust that You’re at work in every situation, no matter how hard. Help us to embrace the optimism that only You can provide. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Eat The Frog

"Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you." - Psalm 143:8, NLT

According to Mark Twain, if you ever have to eat a live frog, it’s best done first thing in the morning. I know this scenario is awfully unlikely, but it’s good advice nonetheless. Why eat the live frog first thing in the morning, you ask? Because you can go through the rest of your day knowing the hardest task is behind you!

What to-do list items are you most tempted to procrastinate on? What goals have you had forever but not taken the first step toward? What difficult decision have you been delaying? That, my friend, is your frog! Give yourself a deadline in 2021; then get started. That is a great habit, and it’s a hard one to swallow. Sorry—I couldn’t resist.

The bottom line? You can’t just pray like it depends on God. You also have to work like it depends on you. If you want God to do the super, you’ve got to do the natural. And you have to start first thing in the morning.

How you start the day sets the tone for the rest of it, yet many of us never give the morning a second thought beyond getting out the door on time. Our morning rituals are as unplanned as an earthquake. Is that the best way to start the day? That’s sounding the retreat before the day even begins.

Jesus made the most of the early part of the day. Mark 1 gives one example: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” On another occasion, before appointing his disciples in the morning, he prayed all night.

What’s the one thing you least like to do, but you feel best about afterward? That’s your frog. It’s often the hardest habit to establish, but it pays the biggest dividends. Whatever it is, you’ve got to figure out a morning routine that works for you. And, I might add, one that works for your spouse and your kids and your dog and your boss.

If you want to win the day, you’ve got to attack the day.

It’s time to eat the frog!

Think on this: If you want God to do the super, you’ve got to do the natural.

January Theme - Training Camp

Hi, Parents!
This winter we're offering both in-person and online RidgeRunners experiences.

Toddlers through elementary will meet in the gym for the full 10:30 a.m. service. Check in at the hallway table just inside the Turner Auditorium doors.

Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and sanitizing hands. Kids will sit only with their siblings on their own personal carpet. Kids must wear masks on their way to and from their carpets in the gym and while we are singing. They may remove their masks while on their carpets and not singing. If a child does not have a mask, we will provide them one at check-in. If you have an only child and want to arrange ahead of time for them to sit with a family friend, please let us know. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan at nathan@theridgecolumbus.com or 706-464-7548.

RidgeRunners will be live at 9:45 a.m. on YouTube. Join us for a game, worship video with dance motions, and a great lesson! You can also watch at any time throughout the week after the livestream.
