Boys Golf Team
is Ocean League Champions!

The Varsity Boys Golf team completed its league season undefeated and are back to back Ocean League Champions!

They have won both home and away matches against North Torrance, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Culver City. Sophomore Aidan Oliver led the Mustangs with a 1-under par 33 at Chester Washington Golf Course in their recent matchup with Culver City (187-202). Following that victory, Junior Max Huggins answered with a 1-under par 35 at Culver City’s home course Alondra Golf Course (188-231). They wrapped up their season with a decisive victory against North Torrance where all five players’ scores were in the 30s.

Varsity swimmers victorious against Palos Verdes and Redondo!
Congrats Mustangs on two huge wins against league rivals Palos Verdes HS and Redondo!
Palos Verdes Meet:  
Varsity girls crushed PV 123-47, sweeping all relays and winning all but one event. Varsity boys won 107-63, dominated all relays, and won all but three events. Frosh/Soph girls won decisively, 91-62, and Frosh/Soph boys kept it tight, losing by only 8 points, 73-81. Read More
Sophomore Jacob Haim is set to compete in first round of CIF on Monday!
Jacob Haim competed in the 10th Annual Santa Margarita Catholic High School Diving Invitational on April 14th. He placed 3rd with a score of 456.90.

Next up he will compete in the first round of CIF competition for Division 2 on Monday, May 7th in Riverside.
Philharmonic Orchestra takes first place at Disneyland competition!
Congratulations to the Philharmonic Orchestra for their highly successful performance at the Music In the Parks Disneyland Festival on April 14th. The Philharmonic earned a rating of Unanimous Superior, and placed first in the High School String Orchestra AA Division. Read More
Mira Costa Softball honors their seniors: 12-2 win over Palos Verdes!
The Mira Costa softball team hosted Palos Verdes at Marine West on May 1st for their Senior Night game. It was an important league game with the winner poised to take the Bay League title this season. Mira Costa won 12-2 in 6 innings! Read More
Girls Beach Volleyball wraps up season with
81st consecutive dual win!
The Mira Costa Girls Beach Volleyball team wrapped up it’s regular season with Mira Costa’s 81st consecutive dual win!
They will be practicing hard this week to get ready for the IBVL Pairs tournament on Saturday, May 5th, followed by IBVL play-offs starting Monday, May 7th. The Mustangs are looking to add a 6th IBVL Championship Title, and move on to State Finals on May 19th.

Surf team looks ahead to
Nationals competition in June!

The end of the official Surf season ended with the All Star Contest. The team ended strong with a 1st in Girls Longboard, 1st and 2nd in Girls Shortboard and 4th in Men’s Longboard.
In spite of poor waves all season, the team had a record- breaking year and are off to compete in Nationals the weekend of June 16th.
La Vista receives Silver Crown award for 3rd consecutive year!
Twelve students from La Vista traveled to Columbia University in New York City to attend the Annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association Spring Convention where they, with advisor Ms. Keely Gabbert and former advisor Mr. Mike McAvin accepted the prestigious Silver Crown Award.
This is La Vista’s third consecutive year winning the Silver Crown, which places the publication in the top 5% of high school newspapers across the nation. Read More

Xavier Court raced in the Mt SAC Relay ‘Brooks’ Invitational Mile on Friday night, finishing with a second in the race (Mile – 1609m) with a time of 4:12.43. Read More

Boys volleyball defeats
Peninsula and PV!

Mira Costa Boys volleyball faced Peninsula and Palos Verdes on April 17th and 19th, respectively, with all three levels victorious. Costa also defeated Inglewood and Morningside last week. While Costa JV and Frosh/Soph are undefeated and therefore guaranteed the League title, Varsity faces a must-win match against Redondo on Tuesday, May 1st (at Redondo) to take the title outright. Congratulations to Camille Lyter and Celeste Almendariz who made Girls Water Polo Div 3 All CIF First Team!
Congratulations to Camille Lyter on being selected by the Daily Breeze to lead the 2018 All Area Girls Water Polo Team.
Leigh Lyter and Erin O’Donnell were also selected as first team players by the Daily Breeze.
Congratulations to Coach Reichart who was named the Daily Breeze Girls Water Polo Coach of the Year. This is Coach Reichart’s 13 th  Bay League title for Girls Water Polo.
We are all so proud of you for making this a prestigious season!

Girls Lacrosse season update
Girls Lacrosse ended their season last Friday with a loss to Palos Verdes and finished the season with a 12-7 overall record and 9-7 in league. They begin CIF Playoffs on Tuesday with a 13 seed for all of LA County and 87th in the state. They are playing Cate School in Carpinteria on Tuesday, game time TBD. Senior Kallie Collett committed to the University of Redlands this past week – big Congrats to Kallie!
Boys Tennis is Bay League Champions!
Congratulations to both JV and Varsity on becoming Bay League Champions! This week we will move into Bay League singles and doubles competition and then CIF starts next week. Go Mustangs!
We also had a fun and successful Senior day! We wish our seniors Shant Samuelian, Ben Choromanski, Julian Pastor, Ron Mizutani, Evan Fortier and Jon Scalabrini all the best!

Costa Ruggers Prove To Be Great Hosts As They Give Away Game
The Mira Costa Rugby team hosted their 3rd international touring side, the second from Australia, as Oakhill College from Queensland visited Manhattan Beach. The Mustangs got up early as Prop Tommy Undurraga hit from 22 meters on a penalty kick to give Costa a 3-0 lead.

MBX Summer School Registration and MBX Flex Registration is OPEN
Registration for academic courses and summer athletic programs are now open for all grades. Register for the grade your student will be entering in the fall.

2018 MBX Summer School dates are:
Session 1: Monday, June 18 – Friday, July 6
Session 2: Monday, July 9 – Thursday, July 26

Classes will run Monday to Thursday, except for the week of July 4th when classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Academic courses meet from 8 am to 1:30 pm.
