Things change often in the trucking industry and we are working hard to make sure we are adapting to those changes and keeping you informed as effectively as possible. In working to ensure our business practices are clear and up-to-date, Canal has revised the content of its Express Underwriting Guidelines.

Effective February 1st, 2022, you will find several items have been updated in the guidelines, including but not limited to the following:

  • Revision to Model Year Age up to 25 years (i.e. 1997 or newer) (See TestDrive section for further restrictions)
  • Driver License State requirements
  • Additional Freshman/Sophomore NV Intermodal Guidelines
  • Florida, California, and Mississippi IFTA mileage revisions
  • BOR/AOR and e-signature updates

These guidelines should cover the majority of quoting situations your agency will encounter, but if you come across a situation that you think these guidelines do not adequately address, please contact us so that we can consider that for future revisions. To access the updated guidelines, you can click the link below or visit Agency Portal Resources.
If you have questions about your Agency’s specific state or product quoting authority, please contact Daniel McFadden or your Canal underwriter.

Please note that any agency communications with directives from Canal are automatically considered to be part of the Underwriting Guidelines, and should be followed as such.

Thank you for your continued partnership and we hope that you are all safe and healthy!
