February 2024

Dear Permanent Housing Community Partners,

As you all know, the 2024 Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Data Standards went live in October of last year.  We are still completing the updates to our HMIS.  This message is specifically for our community partners who are running Permanent Housing programs (PSH, PH, and RRH).  For the Permanent Housing programs, HUD now requires a housing move-in date for any client being exited to any of the permanent living situations listed below:

List of Permanent Housing Exit Destinations

  • Staying or living with family, permanent tenure
  • Staying or living with friends, permanent tenure
  • Moved from one HOPWA funded project to HOPWA PH
  • Rental by client, no ongoing subsidy
  • Rental by client, with ongoing subsidy
  • Owned by client, no ongoing subsidy
  • Owned by client, with ongoing subsidy

Next week we are implementing a change to the exit screens of your PH programs.  If you are choosing any of the permanent housing exit destinations listed above, but have not entered a move-in date for this client, the system will not allow you to save the exit.  You will need to navigate to the client's program enrollment screen to enter their move-In date. Please note that the move-in date must be within the time when the client was enrolled in your program and can be the same date as their program exit.

Please reach out to hmis@sacstepsforward.org with any questions.
