Monthly Memo

New Participant Minimum

Hello, Master Trainers and Class Leaders!

It's hard to believe that we are officially at the halfway point of 2024. It feels like I was writing the newsletter reflecting on 2023 just a few weeks ago.

For some organizations, summer can be particularly challenging to promote, recruit, and conduct Powerful Tools for Caregivers. With summer travel, recessed schools, inclement weather, and holidays, a 6-week class series with at least eight caregivers may seem like an impossible hurdle.

We are happy to announce a new minimum number of caregiver participants. Currently, the minimum is eight participants. Effective immediately, the minimum number of participants for Powerful Tools for Caregivers is now six. Regardless of delivery format (in-person or virtual), the minimum number of participants for both in-person and virtual is now six.

With this latest update, here are some fast facts and reminders:

  • All PTC-related courses can be delivered virtually or in-person.
  • In-person classes should range from 6-15 caregiver participants.
  • Virtual classes should range from 6-12 caregiver participants.
  • We have multiple scripts and templates to choose from as a Class Leader in the Class Leader Materials download from the Extension Store:
  • 2-hour Caregivers of Children
  • 90-minute Caregivers of Adults
  • 2.5-hour Caregivers of Adults (script will be sunset August 1, 2024 - more information can be found in our May 2024 newsletter)
  • Managing Stress Workshop (60 or 90 minutes)
  • Promotional templates (flyer, brochure, press release, certificate of completion)
  • All PTC-related courses should be delivered by a minimum of two (maximum of three) licensed Class Leaders. The Class Leaders who begin the 6-week caregiver class series should be the same Class Leaders who conduct all six weeks.
  • Newly trained Class Leaders must complete at least two 6-week caregiver class series within 12 months of Class Leader Training to maintain their license.

We know that we've introduced several changes to you in the past few months, and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding as these updates are put in place. We anticipate additional changes in the coming months as we update our materials to better serve and support ever-changing and frequently redefined care relationships. All changes will be shared with Class Leaders and Master Trainers and communicated as soon as possible.
