Disability Pride Month

On March 12, 1990, over 1,000 activists marched from the White House to the U.S. Capitol to demand congress make a change. They demonstrated the inaccessibility they faced and urged action to be taken. Then, on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was officially signed into law.

We celebrate Disability Pride Month every July to commemorate this moment and honor equality for all. The ADA is a major civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against those with disabilities. It's changed the lives of millions with various forms of disabilities and protects the rights and dignity of those with disabilities while promoting inclusion and participation. Click here to hear how the ADA has changed people's lives.
